I have a Class C RV with a Chevy 350 small block v8 1976. It has a radiator leak and is also having a head gasket issue (I hear gurgling and white smoke coming out of somewhere on the engine block 🙁 with possible exhaust manifold issues too. I can’t find anyone to take it in cause of the size. Is replacing the radiator/hoses/thermometer then using steel seal the right order to try to get it bandaged up?
Or should I try to steel seal first to try to fix the bigger issue first then replace the radiator after.
No. You need a new radiator and a top end rebuild, ie, heads, gaskets, etc. Any sealer, at this point is a total waste of time and money.
Sealers are temporary bandaids at best and may not work at all. They can clog up your cooling system at worst. Especially if you intend to do extensive traveling in that RV you need to have proper repairs done.
I think it depends on what your plans are for this motor are you going to eventually rebuild it or are you just going to keep driving until it dies either way it's your choice but I just wanted to say that I have had good luck with bars leak carbon fiber block and head gasket seal I know it may not be permanent but I had an old 350 with a pretty bad head gasket leak I put this in and the motor lasted about another 3 years or 20,000 miles somewhere in that neighborhood so if it's just a quick fix for now it might do the trick but like these other guys have said if you plan on rebuilding the motor completely this might not be the best idea
