2020 ford fusion 2.0 eco awd 63,000miles. Which is all highway miles I travel out of state for work. I was heading from MA to Jersey and 10-15 mins left of the drive as I got off the jersey turnpike I notice a loud rattling noise. Whic I knew it was the cracked flywheel which I luckily limped to my hotel and left it. The next morning I tried having ford tow it to a dealer who was 8 mins away and was going to charge me 150$ to tow. I call aaa and had them tow it there which I was told I would not be getting a loaner or rental car due to them not having any at the time and that even tho it’s a recall according to corporate ford it’s only up to the dealer if they wanted to supply a loaner or rental car allowance. That wouldt be such a issue because it would only be down for a day or two for the actual repair. Come to find out the torque converter and all the parts are on back order for 1-3 months. The dealer wouldn’t let me buy a aftermarket torque converter to throw in sense I can’t wait 1-3 month with my car stuck 6 hrs away. I been going back and forth with both the dealer and ford and ford is saying it’s up to the dealer and not ford. Why can’t ford dictate what the dealers do I know there private own but ford should be able to have the last say sense it is the ford symbol on the front of the dealership. Ford also won’t leave a paper trail for any of this it’s all word of mouth and I tried getting them to pay for my rental car that I have now which is costing close to 700$ a week and they said I SHOULD be able to summit these receipts to any ford dealer and have it payed for but we all know how that goes when you don’t have anything in writing. I would like to see if anyone has had this issue with not only ford but other manufacturers and what was the outcome and how stern where you with the dealers and corporate. I’ve only own fords and did not think it would be this much of a issue when it comes to recalls and when the car only has 63k on it and is all highway miles car look pretty much new.
That sucks. All I can say is make sure you read every word of the fine print in your warranty contract to make sure you get what you're entitled to. The dealerships will do their best to try and pull fast ones on you. I personally wouldn't hold my breath on the 1-3 months either, and I would treat it like a lost cause.
