2009 Lexus is250 rear wheel drive 160k miles: I knew better because I read through the owner's manual when I bought the car. However I was in a hurry and forgot to keep the battery cables energized when replacing the car battery. The computer memory was wiped and now neither of my key fobs work. Is the dealership the only ones that can re-link the fobs to the computer or can it be done with one of the scan tools out there. I took it to a auto repair shop that used the snap-on scanners and he couldn't do it. Maybe there is another brand scan tool that can. I'm a 2 hour drive to a Lexus dealer but closer to a Toyota dealer if they can do it. Thanks for any assistance in advance.
Many locksmith's now use higher end scan tools and can program key fobs to ECUs so you don't "have to take it to a dealer". Just make sure they can do so on your particular year, make, model car before they come out.
That is a new one on me. I never would have thought about taking it to a locksmith but I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the tip.
