Hello Scotty, I love your videos and your work!
I'd like to ask you a very important question. My sister is giving me her old 2011 Hyundai Sonata (automatic) (mileage is quite high, but I'm not sure the exact figure). It's water damaged and will cost me about $1,500 to fix it. Would you suggest treating it or going ahead to get myself a newer used car to save myself the trouble.
Thank you for your time.
Water damaged? Aside from anything else that sounds like a black hole for dollars to disappear into.
Er... That car had a faulty engine designed by Hyundai and if you got it replaced the replacement is a junkyard engine so the car is not worth more than 4 5k. It won't last more than 100k city miles. I would get rid of it and get a Toyota or Honda or maybe Mazda. If you liek Hyundai, stay away from the Tuscon and SOnata which always have garbage engines, consider the Elantra.
What mileage is "high mileage"
And any water damage car avoid
If Sis didn't want to fix it, why does she think she is doing you a favor by allowing you to fix it? It will be a water damaged car, and repaired, car wither way. Do you and Sis think you cannot find a better car? Maybe even something you do not have to rebuild to drive?
