For a DYIer(shade tree mech.), what scan tool regardless of price would you recommend for somebody doing on the side auto repair? One that can do it all(almost) haha. Thanks!
Click "Tools" at the top of the page
Find the Autel MP808
It's a bidirectional tool. It read SRS, TPMS and all that good stuff.
I recommend the Autel Maxisys MS906BT. Also, as you go up in the scan tool hierarchy (and also price), you get more vehicle coverage. But the MS906BT is the best one, in my opinion.
The 906 costs $350 more, and the 808 description says:
"performs as powerful as MS906"
I will have to do some research and make sure it is supported by Autel North America and offered by authorized Autel dealers here (Amazon is not an authorized dealer). Some of the Autel tools are not supported here in the states (in terms of technical support and warranty) even though you can buy them here (from non authorized dealers). Also this unit is a tethered unit not Bluetooth or wireless like the MS906BT (which is convenient).
it's listed on their N.American website

You are correct, thank you sir! I also just checked my email to Autel North America from back in 2018 asking if they supported several different scan tools including the MaxiCheck MX808, the MaxiPro MP808, the Maxisys MS906 and 906BT, and several Maxicom tablets, and they said all of them (except for the Maxicom) were supported here in the states. I ended with the MaxiCheck MX808 due to price but I can’t remember now why I didn’t get the MaxiPro MP808. That would have been the most bang for the buck for a good bidirectional tablet-style tool.
