Scotty doesn’t know what he’s talking about

I was sitting in a salon waiting for my wife to get her nails and toes done, and watching Scotty roasting Kia’s nightmare quality on my phone. A lady sitting next to me, a Kia owner, got offended and said Scotty has no clue what he’s talking about.

Maybe she got one of the Kias that hasn't spontaneously burst into flames - yet. {pear}:laughingoutloud:

A friend's Kia Soul just died.  Engine ground up inside with 70,000 miles. Still full of oil.

She drives like -is- a Grandma.  Religiously maintains her fluids (at the dealership).

Dealer told her it would be several weeks to repair because there are 12 engine replacements ahead of her.

My mom has a 2020 Kia Soul & needs an engine replacement due to a recall (bad piston rings). I imagine that is probably why they have a long line of engine replacements to deal with.

My aunt has a 2018 Soul. She barely drives it due to health issues but she's having issues with it-no engine issues yet.

Typical dealer response was probably “Oh, that’s normal.” 🙂

I heard Scotty is a just a paid reviewer, and he gets paid off to shill their car brands and bad-mouth others.

Oh my gosh, Noooooooo! And sponsored by Evil Toyota Empire. I must unsubscribe to his channel now.

Guys just have an open mind. What you think or believe is entirely up to you. Ask questions the answer is entirely up to you to comprehend. 🤓

Has anybody seen Scotty's pitch for the Ford F150 charity raffle?  I not only wonder how much he got paid for that but who paid it!  I wouldn't buy a new F150 even if I won the lottery.

Same here.

Scotty just can't win.
He is constantly accused of being biased, or working for Toyota and hating on domestics.
He says one nice thing about Ford and he gets criticized for that.

I saw the video. I think he just wants to help raise money for the wildlife foundation.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. You don’t like specific brand or product that’s your privilege. 😳

My first post was accidentally added as a comment, my bad, rookie mistake.

That is funny. I personally witnessed one burst into flames, when the guy pulled over in a parking lot he called the fire department and I noticed he was wearing a Kia mechanic uniform. He said he was test driving it because the customer stated it had weird engine noises, the car was a total loss. I asked him what he thought the problem was and he said, "It threw a rod causing oil to spray on the exhaust and catch on fire." Sounded like a rehearsed line given to him to say from Kia. I looked on the road and the parking lot and saw no oil anywhere on the road. I guess the "rod" that caused the leak made sure the exhaust burned all the oil before any hit the ground. I have witnessed enough myself to stay away from Kia.

Here's an actual Kia Theta engine

I almost thought this was a doctored photo..

I thought the image had corrupt data the first time I saw it.

I wonder if her family watches Scotty and she ignored their opinions of that car brand.

Or just bought in spontaneously without talking to anyone about it first. That tends to happen in my family. Within the last 6 months my mom got a new Kia Soul & my stepsister got a new Nissan Rogue. I feel like I need to start having pre-emptive car discussions with everyone else now lol

I feel like every foreign vehicle manufacturer (except Toyota) can't make it to 100,000 miles trouble free.

A lot of people don’t know who Scotty is or know much about cars and buy what Consumer Reports or JD Power recommends. Or they go off a recommendation from family, friend, co-worker to get a Hyundai/Kia along with the allure of industry-best 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. That may have been the case with that lady, who knows.

People just feel the need to offer up their unsolicited opinions.

Well, I saw a video the other of a Kia Soul with 630 miles and the CVT tranny failed because it's such a rolling pile f junk and now a lot of the Hyundai and Kia products are having so many engine problems and transmissions going bad.

At least it's a rolling pile of junk. A lot of them won't even roll.

I love Scotty and respect him but he does tend to make sweeping generalizations at times.  Its part of his charm, lol

My brother has an Audi A6, it been basically trouble free at 130K miles, Scotty says Audi's are terrible money pits.

I have an 2005 Tacoma, if it were not for a class action lawsuit that forced Toyota to replace my extremely rusty frame, my truck frame probably would have  collapsed by now and  perhaps while I was driving it, yikes!   Scotty says Tacomas are great, not all of them.

yeah, I do agree. I got a lot of respect for Scotty but he has the tendency to hate Nissans too much. I love Nissan/Infiniti alongside other brands (I do share his dislikes for Chrysler, GM, Fiat, Mercedes and some other companies) and I have friends and family with them and they are running strong even with a Jatco CVT. My dad's friend had an old 2001 Civic and at 150k km the engine blew up despite good maintenance and it was one of the worst cars on car complaints and one of the most recalled cars of all time. I have seen late model Toyotas with those 8-speed autos and the transmissions failed alongside their CVT transmissions in Corollas.

Well, people can disagree and agree. We'll see what happens in a wildlife habitat the next time you're around.
