Toyota Quality vs Chevrolet

In my 2020 Tacoma today, very, very sadly I hit an Owl that flew across the road, on my way to work. It hit the driver side headlight, no way to avoid it. It did no damage on the outside but destroyed the extremely thin bracket attachment to the frame. Had this had been my Silverado with a thick bracket and rod lock bar right on the frame it would have done nothing. How is a Tacoma, speaking quality wise, so much better using such thin material?

Sorry to hear that. It kind of depends on what your defintion of ¨quality¨ is. If what you mean by quality is being able to run for hundreds of thousands of miles with only basic maintenance, then the Tacoma obviously has the edge. Some materials will be lighter, thinner, and flimsy. The Silverado might handle these situations better because it's more heavy-duty. If everybody was concerned about damage from hitting stuff, then we would all be driving 80´s Cadillacs that weigh as much as my house lol.

The CAFE standars are so tough for the manufacturers that they lighten parts wherever they can on vehicles.

You are simply seeing this first hand. Weight is a HUGE contributing factor to fuel economy.

Look on ebay and see if there are the brackets you need to repair this light. Tacoma is a common truck and should not be a problem.
