[Solved] Should I buy a Remanufactured 3.8 v6 Mustang Engine?

Should I buy a newly remanufactured 3.8 v6 Mustang engine? It costs around $2,000. I have already removed my old engine and automatic transmission out of my 2002 Mustang. The engine has 200,000 miles on it. My Mustang isn't probably worth $2,000, but it's my 1st car. I have new tires on it ($700), new struts, shocks & springs ($400), and a new radiator ($150). Do you think it's worth it to buy a remanufactured engine or should I just scrap of the car?

I posted a similar question last week, but I got confused about the difference between a rebuilt and remanufactured engine. 🤫

I looked and see where the confusion is...

Both are rebuilt by someone which means taking completely apart and put back together with parts that are good and to SPECIFICATIONS on every parameter.

So it depends on who rebuilds it and who they work for and who is marketing etc.  Bottom line is the person(s) rebuilding it.

I understand your dilemma too... ever thought of getting a beater 2nd car and rebuild it yourself?  Now that will be close to same price (you'll need some proper/special tools so tool purchases... but I don't know what you have currently.)  Parts alone tho a lot less... and the knowledge gained.

As for buying the one you mention, sure if you know it's rebuilt/remanufactured proper and you decide the value is worth it to YOU, go ahead.  I don't think it's a bad idea at all... for you or someone that has strong feelings/like for the car.

But for some reason, I would likely get Ford Factory Remanufactured Engine than let someone else rebuilding his Engine

Although it's cost more, but at least it didn't causing so much hassle if there's something wrong happens to his Factory Remanufactured Engine 🙂
