Should i buy this truck when my goal is to carry a lot of 20ft or less containers from California to Florida? Do you think that it would also last for more that 10 years, with decent care/maintenance? 2020 Nissan Titan XD PRO-4X With Navigation & 4WD with 9,933 mileage. From major world in New york. It goes for 49k.
Welcome new member!
The Titan XD is an OK truck, and most of the reviews rate it as acceptable to pretty good. And since all of the Full size trucks these days seem to be regressing a bit in quality, one could definitely make a case for the Titan.
The biggest caution I’d have is that the Titan line either has been cancelled or is about to be. And since they never sold a lot of them, you’ll likely be stranded with a truck nobody wants to service.
Most people who shop for half ton Titan should probably get a Tundra (if the tow rating on a 2020 Tundra meets your needs, that’s your answer). In the 3/4 ton segment, obviously there is no Toyota option. Of the big 3, they all have their pluses and minuses, and I don’t think there is one clear favorite (unless you are going off road, then get the Power Wagon). I’d probably look at which local dealer is the most ethical/reputable, and let that be the deciding factor.
EDIT: THE CUMMINS DIESEL USUALY COMES WITH AN AISIN TRANSMISSION, WHAT I WROTE IS FOR THE JATCO.
Test drive it first, most likely you'll be very disappointed.
They drive and shift like utter crap.
The Jatco 9 speed tranny is absolute crap, look on NHTSA at the amount of breakdowns people have with it:
- (NHTSA ID Number: 11472262) "The vehicle will not move between lower level gears (...) rev up very high but not switch gears even if you dig all the way in on the gas pedal (...) We have taken it to the Nissan dealership 3 times and they have said this is normal"
-
(NHTSA ID Number: 11465919) "Truck lags when taking off and has a severe downshift from 2nd to first gear. This causes the truck to jump forward when braking"
- (NHTSA ID Number: 11464136) "The transmission would jerk and clunky when coming to a stop and vibrate, shifting hard upon acceleration. Dealership refuses to acknowledge the problem"
- (NHTSA ID Number: 11463796)"Severe lag/hesitation on acceleration, hard shift lime being hit at around 10 mph
- (NHTSA ID Number: 11458354) "Transmission failed shifting abruptly to first gear while driving in traffic (...) Vehicle towed to dealer, valve body replaced (...) 5 hours after pickup vehicle slammed back into 1st gear while driving causing similar issue in traffic. Vehicle back in dealership awaiting transmission from Nissan (13000mi)"
- Any there are many additional complaints about the Nissan 9 speed transmission on other years/models. I'd avoid it like wildfire.
I took these complaints from the page for the 21 model, but it's universal to all of these with the 9 speed.

Crap trucks, I'm unsure if it'll last the duration of the drive {pear}:laughingoutloud: - probably won't last not 10 years.
I test drive it on the highway. It it 80mph off-road, because of traffic that was all I could do. I haven't been able to test how to lift stuff yet or how it performs when lifting stuff.
{blackemo}:laughtertotears: you're joking right.
Get a diesel!
I forgot to mention this but it is diesel.
oh I didn't know Nissan sold diesel trucks here. Who makes the transmission?
I went today. I was only able to hit 80 mph off-road because of traffic. I'm so sorry I was wrong it is not diesel. You know your stuff.
How could you mistake a petrol engine for a loud clattery diesel? Did the engine knock/clatter like a diesel?
A Nissan probobly isn't as reliable as If you get either get a Ford, Chevy, or Toyota. The Toyotas are pretty reliable and if you get an older Chevy or any Ford, those are also reliable. More than likely a Nissan will break down on the side of the road. A ram might do the job, but you might have to check the transition first to make sure you can shift down the road because any christler product won't have a good transmtion.
