Scotty, I am looking for a first car and definitely do not want to get taken advantage of. I have discovered your channel during the start of the pandemic and have been a tuning in daily for more!
I am coming to TN for a summer internship (college student) and have been looking around TN for a car I drive back to WA. I found a used 2000 Toyota 4Runner (4WD), Automatic on Facebook Marketplace for $2,700. Only issue is the seller says this...
"runs rough won’t take gas, don’t have time to fix it, clean title would make a perfect daily driver with how clean it is price is $2700 OBO"
I would think it would be a bad fuel pump, but my gut tells me otherwise.
Should I keep invest in gym membership and run/walk everywhere instead? Or is this something that cheap college student could tackle?
Thanks to those who answer, all help is appreciated.
Don’t buy another man’s problem. I say keep looking, especially for a college student..
You don’t want to get stuck with an endless moneypit!
Thanks for the advice as well, I ended up listening to my gut and decided to wait.
Good for you mate.
If you're really interested take the car to a mechanic so you can make an informed choice if you want to buy the vehicle.
Thanks for the advice! It has paid off so far!
Think about this - this person has a car that if it was in GOOD operating condition, would sell for thousands more. They aren't bothering to have this supposedly minor work done on the vehicle. You are buying a vehicle from a person who has been neglecting maintenance and repair. What could go wrong? Lots.
I would run away from that; if seller is not willing to fix that issue, what other things has he not fixed and/or what maintenance item (or items) has he neglected? Also, I would not buy a car from Facebook Marketplace - lots of scams on there.
