How to fix a sluggish car with a burning smell?

I have an 05 Cobalt with about 145,000 on it. Car has been running sluggish, wanting to stall at stops and just all around unhealthy. I changed the O2 sensors and it didn't help. Now it has been getting very hot from under the car, I can smell a burning smell, but the engine temperature itself stays right around 190 degrees. I've been told my catalytic converter may be clogged up but I don't have the money to buy alot of new parts if that isnt the problem. Already brought sensors that weren't needed. I'm afraid to drive far from my house. I'm quite certain the smell is coming from under the car. Any ideas on how and what I can do to fix it would be so helpful since I don't have any men in my life that can diagnose a car problem and I'm at a loss. Thank you. I love your videos!

How old are your air and fuel filters? (Hopefully not 17 years old!) The catalytic converter can be tested for back pressure to determine if it's clogged. The car should also be scanned for codes and live data checked.

How old is the drive belt? Can you see any visible oil leaks, around the engine?

Have you checked the forum FAQ for mechanic referrals (which may be near your location)? - https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/mechanics/

If you're worried it's a CAT problem, run a can of dedicated catalytic cleaner through it to see if it helps.
