2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Stop/Start Battery Draining Main Vehicle Battery?

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2k miles, automatic

I have a new Jeep and after going to my parking garage (I live in a city) after a week, the battery and vehicle were completely dead.  I had the car towed to the dealer who put a battery charger on the vehicle overnight and everything worked fine the next day and "they could not find any issues".

I have done a little research, and spoke with Jeep Wave (their customer service arm) and things indicate that the small battery used to support the stop/start feature potentially (probably) drained the main battery.  Since testing shows all is fine, there is nothing they can replace without the issue happening a number of times.

I am ok with replacing the small battery that supports the stop/start feature, as the cost is small and the piece of mind big, but am wondering if this is a problem with the stop/start battery so replacing it will fix the issue, or if it is an electrical or some other problem and simply replacing the batter will not fix the issue.

Appreciate any insights.

Thanks.

I find it hard to believe a jeep would have such an obvious design flaw as a undersized battery with ISG.  I will bet something is staying on or has been left on like a cabin courtesy light. Glove box lights are notorious for this. You should check the drain current while the car is off. Of coarse it is under warranty so just keep bringing it back until they fix it or your lemon law kicks in. Document each visit. Most of the cars nowadays have AGM batteries that are physically small but have tremendous storage.

Dealers service managers tell their mechanics the number one thing is prep the cars. There is no money in warranty work so it gets put aside. You have to be your own advocate. I remember the people creating scenes on the showroom floor got the most attention. I had a dealer tell me no heat was normal only to find there was shrink wrap on the cabin filter that was supposed to have been removed as part of the dealer prep.

Sorry if I was to long winded.

The dealer probably can't even find his front door.  You'll find out soon enough that anything made by Jeep is a mechanical and electrical nightmare because they are so poorly made.

Call the dealership and tell them you're going to show up with the local TV station film crew and do an expose on how the dealership won't honor the warranty and service it's customers properly.

This vehicle is under warranty.  It should not cost you anything for a problem which is of their making (poor design.)

Dealer cannot replicate the issue - so they are unwilling to take further action.

No, they don't, and no, they don't
