[Solved] Street signs and traffic lights will be obsolete...

In the somewhat distant future, the function of street signs and traffic lights will be incorporated into every vehicle, electronically. They’ll be projected onto a small area of the windshield, at the appropriate time and place. If the driver doesn’t realize they need to stop, slow down, etc. the car will do it anyways. (Well... it will ALMOST always. 😆 I’m sure it won’t be a perfect technology. No matter how much it’s critiqued and improved.)

Heck I've already driven cars to have stuff like that and it now but you can't force people to buy expensive things it's going to be a long time before the whole country switches over to stuff like that

They have a long way to go on getting the tech right. My Accord has Honda Sensing and part of it is street sign scanning, but only speed limits.

Even narrowed down to that, there is one speed limit sign I pass that reads "99mph" on the dash. It's a 30mph sign. Going off the dash would get you a nice felony for reckless driving. {black}:shutmouth:

What can possibly go wrong?

With the large advancements in safety in the last 15 years, I'm sure automakers will start offering those technologies (somewhat) soon, but signs and lights will most likely be around for most if not all of your life as it will take a while for it to be standard.

15 years ago vehicles usually lacked side curtain airbags, ESC, etc.

Now we have lane keep assist, blind spot monitering, auto emergency low speed braking...

The quality and actual safety of these are very much debatable but an advancement is an advancement.

With this in mind, think of the next 10 15 20 years...
