Subaru Impreza 2012 CVT clunks when shifting from P to D & R

Hey Scotty, I bought a Subaru Impreza 2012 with a CVT with 100k miles on it with a upgraded valve body. I drive everyday to Manhattan and I put 14k miles on it for 5 months and no problems. It doesn't shake, it runs great so far I had no complaints. One thing I noticed is when I shift from P to Drive or Reverse I feel a small push or a clunk especially when its cold, but it has been doing that since the day I bought it. Any opinions ? Thank you in advance, love your channel, keep it up.

Are your engine & transmission mounts all good?

Yep. Motor & transmission mounts is first thing that comes to mind.

no i haven't, its more like a push not a cluck and it happens for example 1 second after I shift, it doesnt happen right away. I put it to D after one second it jerks forward like it pushes the car forward, or in R after one second it pushes the car back with force. I feel like when the transmission fuel redirects ! any suggestions, I still didn't get a chance to check the mounts. I am just wondering if its anything I can do about or that I need to worry, i Have been driving the car for 15k miles like this, never got an issue.

Is it normal for this delay to occur when switching D R or visa versa or is something that i need to worry about

I see, I think it’s best you visited a Subaru mechanic/transmission specialist and see what they find. Has the CVT fluid ever been changed?

Kind of a concern with a Subaru CVT that old, but might not be serious.  Depending on what you find out, you may want to change the transmission fluid.  Subaru "officially" says that the CVT has a "lifetime" fluid that never needs to be changed (and will void your warranty if you do); but most independent opinions recommend changing it after it goes off warranty, somewhere around 100-120K miles.  (Not the easiest job to do, but DIY-able if you have the tools and skills; otherwise take it to an independent shop that is familiar with Subarus).

Transsmission oil was changed at 90k along with the valve body upgrade

Have a pro mechanic who works on transmission drive the car as well as check and scan it. It might be normal.
