Should I daily drive a classic Mustang

Hey there,

The question I have is that I am stuck with buying my next car. I found a 67 ford mustang convertible with a 289 3-speed. It has almost 80,000 miles on it and it is in decent shape as far as body work. The location of the car is East coast cars. Or I may consider getting one of the newest mustangs with a 5.0 or bronco with the 2.3. I honestly want a standard transmission from one of my local ford dealerships. The only thing I have second thoughts on is the 67 mustang. I keeping thinking that it would be really nice to have a classic car as a daily, but it l will have a lot more maintenance. Someone I talked to said that the flat tappers need to be replaced after 10,000 miles. Lastly, the oil I’ll have to have has to have a zinc additive to preserve the seals. Is the maintenance not worth it for a daily? Plus I could use the extra money for the maintenance on the old to put towards the new mustang instead. I’m a huge mustang person but is it worth it? Please help.

Why would anyone expect a 51 year old mustang to make a good daily driver?

Of course not.

Unless... you're Jay Leno...............

No. 1st generation Mustangs aren't worth the cost. Everyone that's into old Fords wants 1st generation Mustangs, and sellers know it. They charge a hefty premium because they know guys want them.

A once in a blue moon car that you keep in the garage, maybe, but you're not Jay Leno. You don't have millions of $$ to blow on a car without thinking twice, or you probably wouldn't be here.

I have a 2017 Mustang that I bought brand-new, an old 1999 Ford Ranger, and a 1979 Pontiac Catalina. I use the truck for a daily driver and if I want to feel more expensive, I drive the Mustang. My Catalina I only occasionally drive, and never when there's salt on the roads. Be realistic.
