suzuku front wheel studs

I need to replace 1 messed up wheel stud on a 2012 Suzuki SX4 Sedan with 154k miles.  Problem is there isn't space behind the hub to remove the stud.  I'm not even sure if I grind away some of the thin shield around the hub if it will create enough room to come out.  I'm leery of loosening the center nut because I'm not very familiar with front wheel drive cars and I'm afraid of opening a whole new set of problems.  Is the best practice to take off the center nut ?

You have to remove the wheel hub to replace the stud. Even if you bend the dust shield the steering knuckle will still be in the way of getting the broken stud out and putting the new stud in.

Watch a youtube of replacing the front wheel bearing on your SX4 and you'll see what it takes to get the hub off
