Scotty, my wife and I are looking to trade my 13 Kia soul in next summer for a new car. The Kia is on its second engine and second cat and burning a ton of oil so we’re putting money aside for something new. The trax has piqued my interest at its price point and size but the 1.2L 3 cylinder makes me hesitate a little. We’re hoping to put about 5-6k down on whatever we get to hopefully make monthly payments around or under 300. Would you recommend this route or something else with a bigger engine? We’re teachers and family all lives in the DFW metroplex and minimal excursions on the horizon.
The Trax is absolute garbage. You'll be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire with that move.
So I’ve heard y’all on the trax. What about the new Nissan kicks? I know they’ve had a bad track record with their cvts but according to my dad who works close with dealers across North America, they are getting ready to do away with them
Also junk. Anything with a Jatco CVT front wheel drive transmission you should run far away from, if you value your money.

Pass. The Chevy Trax is Hecho en China. Chevy already has a tendency for electrical problems. The fact it's Made in China just compounds it.
The North American Trax is assembled in Changwon, South Korea. 100 miles away from where his Kia Soul was made.
Like Chuck said, out of the frying pan, and into the fire.
I wiki-ed the Trax, and it came up with China and the South Korean plant you mentioned, so I assumed both made them for the U.S. market.
from the very same wiki page: " The U.S.-market Trax will continue to be manufactured in South Korea"
I didn't look too much into it. I went as far as the specs, lol.
