Hey Scotty,
I have a 2009 Lexus ES350 with 191,000 miles. The dealership and another mechanic both told me my timing cover is leaking oil and will cost between $3000 and $4200 to repair depending on which place I go to. I don't want to put that much into a 13 year old car, but with the pandemic's effect on the supply chain and inflation this worst time to buy a car with costs so high. What would you recommend I do?
Benny
This leak is very common on the 3.5 V6, the rtv is thin in the same spot. Engine has to come out to re-seal the timing cover. That's why it cost so much to do the job. I had same thing on my '08 Highlander, it books for 25 hrs labor. I sold it.

It depends on how much it leaks. If it does not drip on the ground, I would not worry about it.
