Is it a good idea to clean your engine by spraying it with tire foam?
As Scotty always said, a little dirt never hurt anything.
So, no, I’d just leave the engine bay alone, unless you had road salt or some other corrosive substance inside it.
Ya i live in canada so tonns of salt os thorwn on roads. I washed my car few days ago even the underneath the car to get rid of the salt as much as possible. Only engine bay is left should i spray tire foam?
See Joe’s answer above. I’d use elbow grease & scrub it off. Be sure to seal off all electrical components with plastic, before you let water into the engine bay.
no.
If the engine was SO dirty that it required cleaning, the foam wouldn't do very much. You would have to get in there with some scrubbing action.
If it doesn't need it, then don't spray anything on your engine.
Many cars/trucks these days have lots of plastic paneling underneath - it's good aerodynamics, and keeps most salt off the engine (pain in the butt when you have to fix anything). The big problem with washing an engine is that the engine bay these days is FULL of electronics and electrical stuff - which does NOT like to get wet. Add in salt to the water you're spraying around? You're doing a corrosion spray-down. I think the downside is a lot worse that the upside of a pretty engine. MAYBE use engine degreaser on the bottom only of the engine/tranny.
Come to think of it, when have you seen a rusty engine in a working car? Body, fenders, exhaust, trim, etc. all the time, but not engines.
