Save yourself the hassle & buy another one which is running perfectly. Who knows what else is wrong with the vehicle?!

Never buy another man’s problem.

I have a 2003 sequoia with 220k miles on it. Never had any serious issues. It is getting old and is definitely a bit rough around the edges but the engine is still in great shape. It hasn't exactly been babied either. I live in Alaska so we drive it on all sorts of rough conditions. It is bone stock but still can do some off-roading and drive through a bit of water. It handles well in snow too. It has even been lightly crashed a couple times and is still kicking. I honestly think it is the most underrated toyota. It is the lesser know big brother to the legendary 4runner. It shares the frame and engine with the tundra but has softer suspension. Super comfortable and great off-road. Still can tow 8k pounds. I also own an 08 tundra which is a great car as well.

If you can afford to put a new engine in and you think it is worth it then go for it. Depends on the cost of the car plus installing a new engine. A new engine will be pricey plus installation is not cheap.

It is a very reliable car and I would highly recommend it if you get it fixed.
