TOYOTA Sienna mini van 2002 fuel injectors

Hello,

I need help. My 2002 Toyota Sienna Mini van motor started rumbling when it is in idle. I can’t afford to go to a mechanic for a diagnostic so I took it to auto zone and the scanner said it is most likely cylinder 1 and 2 miss fires and suggests a fuel injector replacement. I’ve replaced an ignition and have some previous car experience but don’t know how to go about this one. I was quoted at $1400 at the cheapest by a mechanic. While the part only costs $130. Any suggestions on how to do this?

How does a scanner ‘most likely’ throw out P0301 & P0302? From what you’ve said, am I correct in assuming you have atleast 3 codes - P0300, P0301 & P0302? And how did you/the scanner get to your injectors?

2 injectors failing at the same time? Hmmm.

Next time it starts idling roughly, grab a scewdriver by the blade and smack the idle air control valve with the plastic handle of the screwdriver a few times while it's idling.

If it smooths out at all, replace your IAC valve. (this IS NOT a definitive test of the IAC valve. But if it's just sticking because it's "crudded up", it sometimes temporarily unsticks  it)

It's time to invest in an inexpensive scanner. If you're looking at repairs that can set you back $1500, it makes sense to invest $50 in a scanner. Scotty recommends some inexpensive ones that will suit you fine.

It would be helpful if you could post the freeze frame data from when the code was thrown and some live data so we can help you figure out what's going on.
