hey, I've been watching your videos and have been getting into cars more recently, I wanna do basic bolt on's on a 4 bager vvt-i 2012(i think its 2.7L?) fwd venva base model and maybe headers and basic suspension/coil overs, I feel like I'm limiting out the cars power and just wanna go a bit faster and pump out more power and make it handle better, from Ontario btw and car has 200k kilometers(124k miles) on it and has been getting check ups from Toyota dealerships twice a year and is still ok no problems

In all seriousness, you're not going to be able to do much to a Venza. They are made for people hauling, as you know. You could do coil overs and drop it some for handling, but you would sacrifice ride comfort and in a vehicle that size...the difference wouldn't be worth it.

You don't want to do headers on a Venza. You're looking at $600 - $800 for the parts and the same again for labor for what will be literally almost no gain....maybe 3HP. Headers are only needed once you are making enough power to need better exhaust flow, which a Venza engine isn't going to make. Plus the hassle of relocating 02 sensors, getting it tuned...goodbye engine reliability.

It's just not a good starting foundation for a sporty car. It would sound terrible, ride worse, and cost you a chunk of money for no gain.

I would save your money. If you aren't happy with the Venza, swap it for something else. Yeah I know you don't want to hear that, but I modify all kinds of cars/trucks/SUV's every day......and I can honestly say we have never had a Venza come in. It's just not made for that kind of thing.

Hey, doesn’t adding stickers add horsepower?

thank you for all the feedback and I'm taking all the advice you gave me, I couldn't find much on Venzas except that stock internals on the engine can handle up to 300 hsp, and its got 175 stock and that bolt ons don't effect the lifespan of the engine

@DayWalker lol some more than others. I mean, we all know TRD decals = Racecar. {black}:laughingoutloud:

@batmansuperkool anytime you modify a vehicle, you are shortening its lifespan. Think about it like this: you are adding more stress to the engine than it currently has right now and asking it to make more power. More power ALWAYS comes at a cost, and part of that is increased wear on the motor. There's no way around that. Bolt ons will not tax the engine as much as, say, forced induction, but they do have an impact.

genuinely appreciate your feedback a lot, thanks

You're welcome!

Here on this forum you will get honest feedback, and we can’t in good conscience help you make your vehicle less reliable with mods.  I would follow the advice of our esteemed member and Performance Expert Mod_Man.  And you better bet Scotty would say something similar.  You also say you are getting more into cars, so I would heed the advice of those more seasoned than you.

You got a four cylinder for a relatively heavy car. If you want a faster car, you better off getting another car.

holy smokes what an outstanding theory, man i sure am glad for the internet cus i don't know how'd id be able to think of anything at all!! i am being sarcastic, I'm not trying to go buy a whole new or used car dropping a couple grand then start modifying that, i just wanna add sum handling and stability and a bit more power

Get one of these!

The good news is, you can try stuff. If it doesn’t work, you can go back in time and try again!
