i have a 2014 Mazda 3 i Sport 2.0 6 speed manual it has 113,000 miles on it...it states it has have lifetime transmission fluid that only needs to be changed when a major transmission component or the entire transmission needs replacement...i get a lot of different answers and my car manual doesn't say anything on this subject
Your definition of "lifetime" is very different from the manufacturer's. "Lifetime" fluid is only guaranteed for 5 years, or 60,000 miles. After that, it becomes your problem, not the manufacturer's.
Fortunately, you have a standard transmission, so your gearing is splash lubricated, not clutch material and steels that wear out if you neglect them.
Every 5 years, or 60k miles, replace the transmission fluid. It's similar to a regular oil change. Excess fluid usually runs right back out of the transmission, but don't count on that. Use the proper amount, as stated in your owner's manual.
