Used Auris Maintenance advice

Hi folks,

Just bought a used Toyota Auris Touring Sports (Corolla station wagon in 'Murica?) hybrid.

I'm in Scotland.

2017, 36k miles.

I want to keep the car in great condition for as long as possible.

It has a 10k mile /1 year service interval, should I change the oil more frequently or is this fine if my driving is mix of highway and some town.

Also this is the first time with a CVT, always had standard transmissions before. How often should I change the fluid to keep it running the best for the longest?

Is there anything else I should think about?

Thanks for any tips.

Change the engine oil every 5k miles/1 year whichever comes first. Change your transmission fluid every 40k-50k miles to be on the safe side and keep up with other regular maintenance (e.g. Change the coolant every 100k miles/7 years.

Best practices for lasting (almost) forever? Keep a folder/logbook, make a checklist of things to look at at standard intervals - like coolant and brake fluid level, trans fluid if it has a dipstick, etc. Be methodical, and you can catch small problems like leaky hoses before they turn into big problems, like an overheated engine from a failed hose or belt. That's what fleets do, and it works.

'Is there anything else I should think about?'

Hybrid batteries usually last 150k to 200k miles, then they start break down.
