Hey Scotty, I was looking to get a used truck at $17,000 or less and I heard of a lot of problems the newer Ford F250s have from 2000 and up (death wobble, violent vehicle shaking at higher speeds). I was always a fan of the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra but the Tundra definitely won’t fit my budget. Is it worth buying a Toyota over a Ford and if on a low budget ($15,000 or less) what is the best Ford to buy? Also was looking for a mileage of less than 200,000 miles, approximately 100,000 to 150,000. I wanted a 2009 or newer pickup truck.
Clarification: What will the truck be used for? Any towing (and how much weight), off-roading? Adding @USAFdozerpilot to the discussion.
You’re in a tough spot with you’re budget. Could find a V10 F250, or 2000 7.3 Powerstroke possibly. Other than that eh. I agree with @doc somewhat. The newer Ford trucks meaning 2018 and over. And some mid 2000s are garbage. With that being said I think the 2015-17 F150 w/ 5.0 V8 , 250 w/ 6.2 V8 or Powerstroke , 350s w/ 6.7 Powerstroke are one of the better modern trucks made. Realize Toyota isn’t in the business of full size trucks. Yes they built the Tundra and left it alone. It’s a good truck but Ford overall takes trucks seriously it’s their livelihood. There’s some bad Tundras out there as well. Also, good luck trying to find a low mileage truck with your budget in the market right now. You may get lucky though.
I wouldn't even consider a Ford truck anymore. Their quality has gone down the El Bano. Best year yet for the Tacoma is 2015. Problem is, this year truck where I live is going for $25-30,000.
Get a Tacoma if ur gonna tow thigg Bc s get the large v8 for normal stop and go city driving would be a good v6
