I have a 2011 Toyota Highlander Sport Model 245/55R19 tires and wheels. I’m guessing wight difference from front to back is 60/40? So why is it recommended to have all 4 tires with the same amount of air pressure? Is there a web page site that actually discusses the tech and scientific studies that produce the results of why a certain air pressure is the standard practise. Does a race car have all tires the same air pressure going around an oval track? Wouldn’t there be more force, weight on the high side tires?
Race cars have different pressures for front and rear. Normal everyday cars do not and the engineers who designed the car know best why.
FWD, AWD, etc cars can differ on pressure.
If you want to learn more about tire pressures and automotive issues, perhaps you could find out more info at the Society of Automotive Engineers web site - https://www.sae.org/
I believe Road and Track and/or Car and Driver have had articles that discuss tire pressures for road and racing applications.
