Halfway through 2022 I got myself a 2005 Mazda3 s 2.3l sedan with a standard transmission, and only 86,000 miles. I already feel lucky for having a car with low miles and a standard transmission, but what are some problems I should look out for and some preventative maintenance I should adhere to? The car does have a bit of a rough idle where the tachometer goes to a low of 600 rpms but typically stays near 800 to 1k rpms. No codes, current miles are 95.1k, and I get an average 27 mpg.

Thanks!

I had a 2006 M3 sedan. Had it for a couple years had no problems with it untill the end when the cable to open the trunk snapped (had to use emergency release inside trunk) and the rear frame rotted out and I had to junk it. Also experienced a common problem with these vehicles right before I scraped it where the rear left shock mount rusted so bad it broke off from the frame. Still one of the best cars I ever owned

Ah gotcha, are you in an area where it snows and rains alot? Mine has no sign of rusting at all, and I'm hoping nice California weather will keep it that way.

Here's a good place to start https://repairpal.com/2005-mazda-3/problems

As far as the idle, try doing Scotty's recommended spray cleaner on your MAF sensor and throttle body first.
