What are you thoughts on the new Engine on 2023 Highlander? Is it a reliable engine?
A naturally aspired engine is the best option for longevity and reliability, but if buying a turbocharged engine then definitely one from Honda or Toyota. If it was me and I wanted a brand new Highlander I wouldn't be concerned about the turbocharged engine on it. Now if you want to keep it 10 plus years then definitely don't go with turbocharged, but for anything less than that I think it's fine.
In my opinion, if it was a smaller car, that would be Ok, again not perfect but acceptable. Considering the size and weight of the Highlander, I doubt it can last even near to the V6.
The problem is that I really do not have any option if I want to go for 2023 Highlander
If you want hybrid then that doesn't have the turbocharged engine. If you don't want hybrid like I said personally I wouldn't be too concerned about it especially if not keeping for 10 or more years.
Hyundai Palisade got excluded due to resale value.
Don't even think of a Hyundai/Kia product; just do a quick search on this forum and you'll see they manufacturer rolling piles of junk.
The problem is that I really do not have any option if I want to go for 2023 Highlander. The only other option is to go for 2022. I was also considering Lexus RX350 L and MDX, but now fixated on Highlander. Hyundai Palisade got excluded due to resale value.
The T24A-FTS engine in the 2023 Highlander is the same one in the new NX350 and RX350 (the latter of which will start hitting dealers by the end of the year). Toyota has been turbocharging engines for decades. Take the MK4 Supra, for example. The 2JZ-GTE is one bulletproof motor and it has two turbochargers.
