I am and will always be a die hard Toyota/Lexus lover. Spouse has a new Subaru, and a used Focus. Both seem very well other than a bad valve cover gasket on the focus.... I digress.
I have a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq plug in. Bought just because the warranty I received seemed very good, along with the free oil changes till 60K. "100K bumper to bumper warranty." Looking back at Hyundai, they were absolutely terrible. Driving the Hyundai with over 27K, so far so good. Plan on driving it to the ground because I have lifetime warranty on the hybrid battery... I'm just curious what your thoughts are on the new Hyundai's. To me, they have definitely upped their game recently.
Do a search for Hyundai on this forum and you will see we’ve covered this topic numerous times before. But in short in terms of reliability and longevity they are very bad and best to avoid them, and certainly not wise to own one out of warranty.
On a daily basis we get members with issues on their Hyundai/Kia products (usually 2010 MY or later).
Even very recently, Scotty has been very critical of Hyundai reliability and quality. For example, Scotty brought this up: https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2021/hyundai-tucson-abs-recall.shtml

The advisory is not to park the vehicle in attached garage, because there's potential to "burn down the house."
It's reminiscent of the Nissan Rogue recalls . . . with the same consumer advisory.
They have been actually been getting worse as they aren't upping their quality actually decreasing it while making complicated products. They may have improved when it comes to looks, driving characteristics, and cosmetics, but not mechanically. I personally would advize you to get rid of it at 100k miles. It will barely last that long and if you get lucky not much more after.
My thoughts are the quality is awful and they fall apart as they age. I wouldn't buy one or recommend one.
They are endless moneypits.
They are perfectly fine within warranty. Once warranty expired get void of the car as soon as possible
