I recently got a 2015 Chevy Trax with AWD and I know based from your videos, toyota is the way to go. Is that still the case as of today or are there other better options?
Get rid of the Chevy Trax in this super hot seller’s market, especially since it’s out of warranty. If you care about longevity and minimal issues/repairs during the life of ownership, go with the Toyota.
are there other better options?
Depending on the segment which you’re comparing, Honda is usually Toyota’s closest competitor when it comes to reliability.

I hope it’s very low mileage, because that 1.4T engine is notorious for the turbos failing prematurely. Look at all the Trax (and Cruze) online forums with this issue.

In general Toyota (and Honda too) are a lot better than GM products. Now remember any car manufacturer can make a mistake or have issues with a particular vehicle or new technology they use, but again what matters is which have a longer history of reliability and quality which in your case it's definitely in favor of Toyota. In the same size/level as your Chevy there is the Rav4 from Toyota which I would definitely suggest it over the Chevy. The new Rav4 has become so much roomy and comfortable and on top of it their quality.
It is. The Toyota equivalent of your Chevy is the RAV4 and it’s super reliable. If you want a Honda instead, the CRV is a good choice too! Personally, the RAV4 is good and the are various types of them, V6, 4-cylinder, hybrid.

Yes, for most people, in most cases (with notable exceptions) - on average Toyota cars offer the best quality.

Well, the Trax (a rebadged Mokka) is just the SUV variant of the Sonic.
These engines require qualified mechanics that know what to look for and maintain OPEL engines.
Poor maintenance and failing to inspect the PVC system will lead to premature failure. In addition for a bad PVC system, non-frequent oil replacement will cause a premature failure of the turbocharger (which crack by themselves regardless of maintenance), and if you constantly drive fast - you might end up needing new pistons.
Like so many Opel based Chevrolets, finding qualified mechanics and parts can be very difficult - partly because nowadays Opel doesn't build almost any "original designs" and bases their cars of PSA's.
yes, it is still the case for the most part. I would sell that Trax asap.
