{black}:idontknow: I have an 05 Honda Accord ex that gets roughly about 17 mpg it’s 15 years old I bought it used, very well maintained (oil every 5k and tranny oil every year) I’ve changed the air filter bc it was extremely dirty, the cabin filter, cleaned the throttle body, and the mass air flow sensor. What could be getting me low fuel Econ? It’s a 4 cylinder with 225 width tires. I think the manufacture width is 205.
It doesn’t trip any codes and I don’t think it has a fuel filter. I looked it up at autozone, it only comes with the whole fuel pump assembly.
Indeed some cars are built that way. The wider tyres will only have a minor impact on fuel economy. If it only does it in the winter, realise engines get worse gas mileage in cold weather.
Do you drive pedal to the metal?
Maybe you drive it hard and it is winter time and it is a older car. EPA estimates is 21mpg and that is normal driving when it was new odds are it is normal for it to be like that especially in winter time. Like @inthrustwetrust said you might just be driving it hard.
No I drive conservatively and it’s been doing this since summer I live in Coachella so it doesn’t get too cold out here in winter this year that is. So what could be the problem? Should I switch out my spark plugs and wires? I don’t think they have been changed
When was the last time that the fuel injectors were cleaned? How about the spark plug change?
I’m not sure I bought it used but I was thinking of changing the spark plugs and coils
