im 21 and i have a 2003 Buick park avenue ultra. And i like to use it pretty hard. Ive accidentally been putting in 88 octane gas in it for a while and i think the fuel system is clogged because off that, it also has some rough idle issues so i did some research and i thought it also might be the IAC valve or possibly a bad fuel pump relay.. maybe a bad spark plug or clogged fuel injector or vacuum leak, was planning on putting some fuel system cleaner in it because my service engine soon light came on and i dont have an OBD2 scanner to properly diagnose it but im not too sure what to do

Okay so i couldnt figure out my password to my account with the original comment and i couldnt find the password recover email so new account. Anyway come to find out it was misfiring only because of faulty wires and plugs and pcv valve was super sticky it wouldnt operate right so i replaced those and the fuel filter just naturally needed replaced too. And i got it back up and running like new again after not knowing <vulgarity removed> about cars!! Then after a week or so, an o2 sensor code came up and i replaced the o2 sensors but never reset it so it just kept coming back on and off like every couple days. I recently got into an accident and now its just a parts car im gonna miss my car man im so mad about it because it wasnt even my fault-_- i have a bunch of tools and jackstands and car ramps and a scanner and valuable car knowledge thanks to scotty. so i can do my own oil changes and other maintenance without putting trust in a random mechanic stranger that doesnt care about anyones cars

Please watch language. When in doubt, consult George Carlin's "7 Words You Can't Say on TV" as a guide.

George was pretty foul mouthed. My advice is to imagine you're standing in an elementary school classroom, or sitting in front of your bank manager trying to get a loan.

Nope. Octane has zero effect on clogging.

Drop by autozone to have a free diagnostic scan of your car.

Start by checking the codes. Go to a parts store. Most will check the codes for free.  Their scanner will give a suggestion what the problem might be. Then if you still don't know ask here again.

Agree with MMJ. Could have gotten bad gas, but that's pretty rare these days; your suspicion of either fuel pump or the relay I think is more likely.

Other than that, lots of things can cause a rough idle on an engine that old.  A basic OBD scan at an auto parts store may not tell the whole story but hopefully will at least help narrow things down a bit.
