Hello Scotty,
I just bought a used 2017 Honda Accord Coupe (LX-S trim with a 2.4L engine and a CVT) from a car owner. The mileage is 60,000. I drove the car and it runs like a dream. I took it to a trustworthy mechanic and he loved the engine and the transmission. I also checked for error codes on the car computer and there weren't any.
Question is, I have no idea whether or not the transmission oil have been changed before or not. How do i proceed? Should i change it now and keep changing it every 60,000 mile? I really want to take care of the car because I want to keep it.
Any good mechanic can do this. Change it every 30-50K miles. Do not go to a dealer.
Yes this is in line with what the others say too. Thanks.
On a CVT I would probably change the fluid at no more than 40K mile intervals.
Please see the FAQ
Yes you can check the owner manual and see how often it recommends to do transmission fluid change but I don't know if in 2017 it could be there already not recommending to do a change at all because officially it's their sealed system but I think Scotty recommend that you still do it
The owner manual simply says "Specified fluid: HCF-2. Have a dealer check the fluid level and replace if necessary".
The problem is there is no Honda dealer where i live, so this is not an option for me.
