I am 18 and purchasing my first car, Either of these is going to be a good fit (I can drive a manual)
2013 Chevrolet Cruze ECO Manual

2014 Dodge Avenger

My Issue: I just cannot find any cars on Facebook marketplace that's truly worth the price in my area
Questions: If I were to get one of these what should be noted?
So they aren't even worth purchasing?
Imo they aren’t.
They're horrid piles of garbage.
It could be worse, at least the Avenger seems to have a conventional gearbox and the Chevy doesn’t seem to have that horrid turbo 1.4L - but these are still just bad cars.
(btw older small Chevrolets had decent automatics, often from Aisin, a manual is not that big of a plus)
The cars you’re looking at are 9-10 years old for $7k, so basically the cars that have depreciated the worst - which tend to be the worst cars around.
If you can’t find a Camry (without the 2.4), Civic, Corolla - Maybe try looking for a Pontiac Vibe? Even an older Mazda3? If you really can’t find anything, maybe even a Ford Fusion (non hybrid, conventional auto only)
perhaps at that budget you should look into cars from 2006-2011 and try to find one with somewhat lower millage.
Those are two of the worst vehicles around.

So they aren't even worth purchasing? I'm getting quite desperate and stuck on a budget, what's the longevity of either of these? Are they not even a year or two?
Do a little research, they are both terrible. At least with manual transmission you don't have to worry so much about transmission failure, but both are low quality vehicles not designed for longevity.

The Cruze had many, many serious issues over its lifespan, especially the early years. Serious enough to have had multiple recalls. GM even halted sales for a time in 2014 to address an engine flaw. I would personally stay well away from that particular vehicle.
I'm not all that familiar with the Avenger.
If u want longevity look at Honda, Toyota, and Mazda. I've driven a Mazda and a Honda with a manual and loved the experience. Avoid cars with small turbocharged engines because they are known to wear out faster.
Whatever car you decide to purchase (preferably none of these), have your mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection. Don't rely on dealer's "inspection". If the dealer refuses the inspection, run away from such a dealer. Also, never pay asking price, always negotiate, try to take 10% off. For $6,995 car, don't pay over $6,300. This dealer has around 2K mark up on this car.
