Which car should I buy for $10,000?

Topic starter

Hey, I will have around 10k to spend on a car by the end of the summer. I want to buy a compact or a subcompact car, what should I buy? I was thinking about a 2014 Mazda 3, Corolla or a Civic but sometimes I also think about buying a newer and lower mileage Hyundai Accent. What do you think? Do you have any other suggestions? (the most important thing for me is reliability and dependability)

I think you shoudl get a 2016 corolla sport because they go for around 10k.

Do not buy Hyundai if you want to keep the car as long as possible.

For your criteria, I’d just get a Corolla or Civic which was in great condition and after a  professional mechanic, checks it out thoroughly.

Run away from the Hyundai! It’s a trap..

Thank you man

Used Cars - What reliable cars can I buy for 10 grand?

Go with the Japanese Options, the Accents are piles of junk.

The 2014 - 2016 Corolla, 2013 Honda Civic, and 2014 - 2017 Mazda 3 are all good choices, better than the Hyundai by far.

Avoid the Hyundai. A Civic SI or Corolla S would serve you well.

The 3 Japanese cars u mentioned are excellent, but the Accents are rolling piles of junk. They were cheaply made and would fall apart. You can also look at Subarus with manual transmissions if you want AWD, like the impreza, crosstrek, and forester although they can be hard to find 2014 models for under 10 grand since they have relatively high resale value.
