I'm planning to buy a used ford ranger that is automatic. I'm choosing from a 2017 ford ranger wildtrak with a 6speed automatic and a 3.2L turbodiesel engine. There are also 2018 - 2020 models that has a 3.2L engine and a 2.0L single turbo engine with 10speed automatic. They are old sold with prices from 20000usd - 23000usd. Which one should I check first? Or should I avoid it?

I personally would consider a Tacoma or Ridgeline first before the Ranger. But if the Ranger is the only option, just based on the spec sheet, I’d go with the 6 Speed  automatic transmission or manual transmission and the diesel. I would consider a non-turbo petrol, but I don’t think it comes in the preferred transmission. Scotty isn’t too fond of the EcoBoost petrol engines.

The 10 speed transmission is a Ford and GM product. And I tend to avoid most GM products for reliability concerns.

The 6 speed is built by Ford under license from ZF. Which has mostly good transmissions. And that 6 speed has been around forever. (Avoid the ZF 9 speed in any make or model.)

This is all based on the spec sheets, so take it for what it is worth.
