Which tend to have fewer repairs after 100,000 miles: Camry or Accord

Dear Scotty,

In an urban environment, I need to buy a commuter vehicle to drive about 24 miles per day/5 days per week.

I am weighing a 2014ish Camry 4 cylinder/6 speed automatic against the Accord (under 90K miles).  I prefer the looks of the Accord, but wonder in the 100,000+ age whether there tends to be a difference in the repair bills.  If so, which one tends to be more reliable later on.

Please note that Chicago roads are N-A-S-T-Y, lol!

Thank you for all you do!

The Camry! The Accords have relatively weak automatic transmissions compared to the Camry.

The Camry can probably last well past 300,000 miles with just minimal maintenance, plus that 6 speed torque converter is bulletproof.

The one with the best service records.  I look for proof of being maintained.  Buying by looks is all emotion and denies quality.

I feel your pain!

Detroit potholes reduce our vehicles to rattling junks by 100,000 miles.

But, I do know people driving both Camry's and Accords a long time with few issues.

The edge will likely go to Camry for suspension reliability.

According to a recent Edmunds survey, reported repair costs on vehicles up to 5 years of age in similar trim levels, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are virtually the same.

But be careful, because both vehicles are rather close to the driving surface, and with both vehicles not capable of using tire chains (but they can indeed mount all-weather tires), usability in a snow-belt environment may be limited.

The survey also cited that both vehicles were susceptible to corrosion and rust in snow-belt environments.

You didn't ask for an alternate vehicle choice, but I'd recommend a vehicle with higher ground clearance, AWD or 4WD. That takes both of your mentioned vehicles out of consideration.

Good luck.

camry is a bit better. toyota has better transmision, but honda makes the worlds best engines.

just dont buy 07-11 camry/rav4 because those are oil burners. 2012-2016 are best modern years paired with 6 speed auto

if ur not a toyota fan, accord are very good cars as well. id recommend getting ones with 5 speed auto pre 2014. (post 2014 they put cvt in them)

goodluck
