how do I reset Mercedes AC maintenance code

Hey, Scotty!!!

I have a 2004 Mercedes E500.

( I know but it was FREE and it's fast)

This E500 has an air conditioner that won't blow cold air. It won't blow cold air because it thinks it's low on freon. It won't take a freon charge because it won't blow cold air.... #@%#*#%

You know how all this works...it senses the coolant is low and shuts down the compressor as a damage-prevention measure. But then it registers a maint. code in the computer and it won't allow the compressor to turn again until the code is removed from the computer.

This requires a scanner....but how sophisticated does the scanner need to be to simply erase a maintenance code from the computer?

Will one of the 29 dollar blue-cube cel-phone-interface scanners work for erasing this code so that I can recharge the a/c and proceed to find and repair the apparent leak?

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide!

Love your channel....Im envious as hell

....but I dig the channel for SURE!!!

You need a real high level scanner for that one. But if you know anybody who understands electronics they can hot where the compressor to make it run then fill it up with refrigerant and it might figure it out after it's filled up with refrigerant that it should work. A good mechanic can unplug the compressor and hot wire it directly to the compressor without feeding back into the wiring system since it's disconnected from the wiring system and power just goes directly to the connector on the compressor
