Will Tesla be overthrown?

We’ve heard this several times about Tesla’s garbage quality, but do you think that other brands that are starting EVs will overthrow Tesla if they actually make good EVs?

I think Toyota , Honda or Mazda will figure it out before anyone else. That being said people still buy all kinds of bad vehicles. I'll be honest and give an example. Ive been a iPhone guy for years. They used to be REALLY good . The last few versions have been so/so, but now they sucked me into their system and Ive got all their other junk {black}:laughingoutloud:

When A domestic brand makes a cheap and simple EV, people will buy it.

Price sells cars.

Ok, rn the Japanese are pretty behind in electrification, but IMO the best rn from the Japanese in terms of full EVs is Nissan with the Leaf (made in the US) and the upcoming Ariya SUV (they are gonna be made in Japan and Nissan discontinued the Skyline Sedan in Japan so that the Ariya will take over on that line), but Toyota is slowly catching up to them with their recent launch of EV concepts and near-production electric cars. However the European brands are getting ahead and I think VW, Audi, Porsche and BMW are gonna be the first to eat Tesla's lunch (With the ID4, etron SUV and sedan, taycan and upcoming Macan Ev, and the BMW iX and i4 sedan) then the Japanese should follow (although IDK about Honda since they made the dumb decision of partnering with GM for EVs and god knows if they will ever make good EVs, only time will tell). The Koreans are tryna catch up but their issues with battery fires and poor reliability with the Kona and Niro EV are holding them back but will see how the new IONIQ brand will play since they do look good on paper. The other American brands like Ford and GM are catching up too but don't have the best in terms of quality and I think they will be overtaken by the euro and Japanese brands in the near future.

Tesla thinks they will be the best in sales and cars but their terrible build quality, poor dealership network are gonna bite them in the rear end and all Euro and Japanese Brands are far superior to Tesla in build quality and reliability, plus it easier to get them fixed with better dealership network.

So IMO Tesla will be doomed in the future as more EVs roll out from other brands.

Also, I think most of the Teslas look super bland and stubby in comparison to the European and Japanese Rivals LOL

Depends on how good their quality is and how well their cars sell.

Possibly, but there is a cult around Elon Musk and cult members in general don't always make decisions that are in their best interest.

Nobody can predict these things

I think all these venture startups are riding on hype at the moment. Most of them will fail, or sell out in the long run. The big car manufacturers are biding their time. They can't afford a flop in this economic climate. VW will eventually come out with EV in a big way (as their deal with the government stipulates.) GM is quietly testing in China. There's isn't enough interest or infrastructure right now for EV to make a big appearance so don't hold your breath.

Right now Teslas are considered cool and a little exclusive. I know that is why some of my neighbors are buying them.

It is extremely hard to produce cars at scale, let alone EV cars at scale. Tesla figured it out and is still figuring it out. I don’t have too much faith the others will. Lucid, Fisher, Aptera.

Maybe Polestar has a chance because it is in cahoots with Volvo. But their design and tech is uninspiring.

I think VW will be a prominent player. I see their EV’s and their Porsche EV around all the time. I think they figured out their platform. And how to produce em masse.

Toyota in collab with Subaru and Mazda will definately be a player. They’ve had a plan for years to go EV, it’s been accelerated recently. Methinks they are having supply issues to actually do it today. That’s why they are taking their time.

I’m a huge Honda fan, but I don’t see them being a major player anytime soon. They are using GM’s tech. GM will probably do decent. They’ve always had EV in their back pocket, and now executing on it with their various brands.

My bet is on a company called NIO. They maybe Chinese based, but they do be government supported and have started testing a roll out in some part of Europe.

I am not buying a Chinese designed and manufactured vehicle, ever.

absolutely tesla is just a trend as soon as china starts selling budget proven good EV good range good battery life they will probably dominate all the other companies

I would agree with everyone. I heard rumors that Honda will make their own EVs after they released 2 vehicles. I think their tactic is to learn other battery technologies like GM and use what they learn to make an EV.
