Found a 2011 ram 1500 big horn 5.7l with 177,000 miles for $16,000. Truck has been taken care. When the guy wasn't driving it, it was parked in the garage. And maintained on a regular basis. Would this be a good buy?
Nope.
Avoid basically every Dodge product post 2009, that's when Fiat took over Chrysler and quality went even further down the toilet. I wouldn't really even touch Dodge trucks that are much past 2000, personally. A good number had transmission problems. A halfway decent Dodge truck would be one with the Cummins turbodiesel from the late 90s. They're practically bulletproof engines. Good luck finding one that's not a rust bucket, though. They also had Chrysler automatics, which weren't great. Still, my girlfriend's dad has a '98 2500 with over 250k, still runs and drives if you can tolerate shaking from the worn out torque converter.
If you get the VIN you can do an apprasial on Edmunds or KBB. But I agree it seems kind of high.
