Hello I'm looking into buying a new car in the upcoming months and wanted your thoughts on which would be a better choice.

Fist I'm looking at the 2021 Toyota Camry TRD mainly because I like the looks and would like something with a bit of get up and go.

Next is the Honda Accord 2.0T, this one I'm not a huge fan of the looks but I do like the interior and the fact it is also peppy.

Last might be a bit out of left field but I'm looking into between a 2014 to 2016 Chevy SS, I love the fact they look fairly sleeper tell you press the gas. My only issue with this is I'm not to sure on what the reliability will be like.

But ya these are what I'm looking at right now though I'm also interested to see the new Kia K5 when they deliver some of the GT trim in my area. Thank you for any feed back you can give me on these vehicles.

First off, the SS has the very reliable (and arguably one of the best) LS engines which is the LS3. While it comes in automatic and manual, I would only get the manual (Tremec) for reliability.  However, being the car is heavy and a 415 hp NA V8 you will get horrendous gas mileage (low teens).  This car was on my radar to buy a few years ago but the fuel economy and concerns about long term reliability (think GM electronics primarily) concerned me.  It did have decent resale value (70+ % of MSRP 5 years later).  The engine and transmission (Tremex manual) should easily last 200,000+ miles but the electronics not so much.  You still have GM reliability (or lack therefore) elsewhere but the powertrain itself is great.  Also, you will pay more for insurance.

That being said, I think you are better off with the Camry and Accord.  Both Camry and Accord are better to get if you care about utmost longevity, decent gas mileage, and decent insurance rates.  Which one to get is up to you - they are that good.  You can’t go wrong either either.  The Accord Sport is more sporty and nimbler than the Camry TRD so if your prize driving dynamics get that.

If you plan to keep the car for a long time, pick the Camry. Turbo engines do not tend to last as long as naturally aspirated ones. The other thing is Toyota reliability.

The Camry and Accord are of course very reliable and those sportier models should be more fun to drive than the normal versions. Chevy SS is a really cool car! That 6.2L V8 is a monster, it sounds incredible. They are quite reliable and I would only get it with the 6 speed manual - that's what those are meant for. The SS also holds its value really well since GM didn't sell that many of them.

If you want a good performing car, I would definetliey go with the Chevy SS - it's a true enthusiast car and you'll have a nice sleeper car that most people don't even know about. Just make sure you get one that was well taken care of and not completely ragged on. Ya you will pay more for tires and gas but man will it be worth it!
