| Just make sure you aren't parking where some work truck spilled nails, etc you can't see. If I'm parking somewhere I can't see clearly I'll get out & check to be sure as I've had some flats doing otherwise. I know you said you'll only be there eight hours but try to avoid repeatedly parking where moisture will be covering your undercarriage. If under trees, expect mold/moss to grow unless you wash it frequently. Lastly in regards to mud, always keep to traction "plates" about as wide as your tire in your truck, no need to be longer than say 24". It can ... | |||||

| inspect your brake pads and see if you need new ones. If your brake pads are fine then you can try to clean the brake rotor with brake cleaner make sure you spray the brake cleaner on the rotor and not the pad. Sometimes brake rotors build up grime and brake dust and often they just need a good cleaning. You don't have to take it to Honda you can always find a good mechanic to replace your break pads if necessary. | |||||

| Great idea to use a turkey baster to remove the fluid from the resevoir (dont remove it all because air may be introduced into the brake line, but since replacing the brake fluid, not a big deal, but better to not introduce air in the first place). As for a pump, sounds good. Can also fill the resevoir with fresh fluid, put a hose on the brake bleed nut that is dipped into brake fluid, open the nut, pump the brake gently, refill the resevoir, pump the brake and repeat until clean fluid come out of the brake caliper. The method is alot of "moving" lol, so the pump would be less moving. | |||||
| 2007 Hyundai Elantra malfunctioning brake switch | 21Relevance | 6 years ago | callison.168 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello Everyone, I have a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, automatic, with about 170,000 miles. Recently, my car would not shift to park so I had to use the shift lock release to make it happen. I then discovered none of my brake lights were working. I checked online and learned it could be my brake switch. I purchased a new one from a Hyundai dealership for about $12 and replaced it. Now, my brake lights stay on even with the brake switch depressed. The brake fuse seems fine as the brake lights are on and if I remove the fuse they turn off. Could the new brake switch have a problem or is it a wiring issue or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated! | |||||

| I do it, too. When you realize how small a parking pawl is, and people who park on slopes without engaging the parking brake first, there's only a few millimeters between a safe car, and a car that rolls away. I always engage my parking brake. | |||||

| ... accompanied by a whining noise. After some head scratching, turns out it’s the alternator. So I replace it. Right after, I start the car to see if I did it right, and light is off, noise is gone, car drives around the block perfectly (Monday, 8/21). However, the next morning (Tuesday morning, 8/22), as I’m about to head to work, my car won’t start at all. Starting it feels like the battery is dead (like it’s trying to start) and all the dash lights come on. Takes about 10 tries before it finally starts. So I drive off to work. But something feels…off. | ... the tool's movement. You choose not to deal with the shop that created this issue, don't want to take off the rear wheels/brakes or get a temporary subscription to Alldata. I understand you feel these suggestions were "not answering your question".. Well, no. No specific tool is made than I can find which will adjust only the passengers side rear parking brake. Have you considered bending/manipulating or improving a standard adjustment tool? | |||||

| Hey it’s the light that comes on when the parking break is engaged. the parking brake seems to work and seems to come off when I release the lever but I was experiencing a lot of shaking back and forth The same thing happened a few months ago but then it went away for a while but the light just kept coming on and off. maybe it’s not even the parking brake that is causing the shaking But I think it is, I really don’t know | |||||
| Answer to: Car doesn't move at idle | 20Relevance | 4 years ago | Justin Shepherd | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Every automatic transmission car should "creep" or idle roll when you put it in gear and take your foot off the brake. Check your parking brake cable and make sure it's not sticking. My '99 Ranger did this after I used the parking brake. I've since repaired it. Also check that your brake shoes are adjusted properly in the rear end, and make sure your caliper guide pins aren't sticking in the front. These can all cause a car to not idle roll and it will decrease your gas mileage, providing there's nothing wrong with your transmission. | |||||

| I keep seeing conflicting information about wether the self adjuster is engaged from driving in reverse and hitting the brake and using the parking brake. Also does the self adjuster impact the function of the brake peddle. After adjusting it. The parking brake improved a lot, but it doesn't seem to have impacted the peddle. | |||||

| I had sticking calipers so I changed the front calipers, hose, pads and rotors. Still had sticking back caliper which I think was due to my parking brake sticking after being engaged then disengaged. I changed the back calipers, pads, hoses and rotors. I bled the brakes all the way around in the order honda says to. When the engine is off the brake pedal is stiff and firm. I know the brake booster should make the brake pedal push easier but I feel the brake pedal goes down to far with the engine running but when I drive it the braking power is good once the ... | |||||
| Brake light problems with 2010 toyota Rav4 | 23Relevance | 2 years ago | BellaTheBee85 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello, i have a two thousand and ten toyota rav4 limited and the brake lights stopped working about a month ago. The brake switch has been changed. The bulbs have been replaced, which they were both blown. Once the bulbs were replaced the 2 bottom brake lights on either side of the car became illuminated. Will you turn on the lights to the car? But the third brake light at the top did not work. I have taken it to 3 mechanic shops. As of now, no one could seem to find the issue. The closest I got with a resolution was with the latest shop, which inform me that the brake switch that goes on the brake paddle was faulty. That was replaced, but it did not help the issue. They went back in and checked all the fuses and found that the stop lamp control relay was also blown. I ordered the part and replaced it today. The brake lights come on, but they stay illuminated, all three of them(which the third brake light would not come on at first at all), even when the car is off. Has anyone ever had this problem or know what else might be wrong? | |||||
