| That’s normal. I recommend you take a few lessons on how to drive a manual. A manual drives significantly differently to a regular automatic transmission. PS. Good luck trying to get going from a full stop up a steep incline.. | |||||

| 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab V8 SLT. Installed a new battery as the prior one was damaged. It seems that here is a short that drains the battery. Therefore, I performed a continuity test, with a multimeter, and all fuses in the distribution panel and the Fuse Block have continuity. Then I performed a test to find the short circuit using a test light. The light turned off when pulling the 40 AMP INT LMP fuse from the distribution panel. I test all the fuses in the distribution panel and no other fuse turned the test light off. Then I ptu the 40 AMP INT LMP fus ... | |||||
| Answer to: Dodge Dakotas best trucks ever? | 10Relevance | 2 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| You're ahead of the game with the manual transmission since Chrysler automatics have generally been pretty awful once the company retired their 3-speed Torqueflites. Aside from that, Chrysler quality has generally been somewhere between miserable and catastrophically bad for decades. However in 2001 they were in the hands of Mercedes Benz (DaimlerChrysler) rather than Stellantis and quality was not nearly as horrible it is now, but "best truck ever" is a real stretch. Really anything goes when you're talking about a decades-old vehicle. Its history becomes the most important consideration. | |||||

| I just sold my 01 CRV to buy my friends 01 Dodge Dakota 2WD with a manual trans and 197k miles. I figured a truck would be better for towing and stuff than a CRV. Sometimes I have to flat tow or something. Anyways it runs good. No engine lights. And clutch is good. Only thing when I reach 5th gear and slam the pedal it will bearly accelerate. And it was a very tiny hill. So I can only imagine how this would handle regular hills. Is this normal? I don't have much experience with manuals. Been only driving manual for day 2. Maybe I'm missing something. ... | |||||

| ... been problematic for Dodge. My friend had a 2005 Dodge Dakota and the transmission went out at around 100k miles. They still tend to rust out, though. They've always made their bodies cheaply. My father-in-law has an old Dodge Ram 2500 with a Cummins turbodiesel that's rusted to heck, but the frame is still good. It's from 1998. | |||||

The following states dismissed their claims: California, Missouri and South Dakota. Have you tried writing to General Motors to see if they are willing to do anything for you? At least partially. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until the case is settled, and see if any scraps make it to you. The case has already garnered nationwide attention, so I doubt exposure from Scotty will add very much.

I know you're not fond of GM products but I needed a truck I could afford to get me up and down the ice mountain I call home after my 98 Dodge Dakota died. My 98 got to 458k miles before the motor died and took the transmission with it, so 400k is about what I try to get my vehicles to. I am wondering if you have any advice to help me make this truck last, I am driving in M5 until I can afford to get the AFM deleted but this is my first GM so ...

| I would like to start up my 1980 Ford Fairmont sedan that has been sitting outdoors in South Dakota for 17 years, where the winter tends to be cold and the summer hot. The car has an inline 6-cylinder engine, a one-barrel carburetor, and automatic C4 transmission. When I got the car in 1999, the odometer read about 60,000 miles. Currently, it reads about 140,000 miles. Before storage, it was running well, and I had replaced all the fluids and filters. However, I did not otherwise prepare the car for storage, such as adding a fuel stabilizer. Recently, I did ... | |||||

| 2002 Dodge Dakota, runs great, but the headlights, taillights and dome lights all flicker when the light switch is turned on. We changed the fuse and also reset it by removing the negative battery wire for 5 min and turned on the headlights to drain the capacitor. No luck. To me it’s either the headlight switch or the BCM. But we are having no other issues with any of the other electrics. Horn, windshield wipers, turn signals and radio work just fine | |||||
