| Hi Scotty, I am in need of some serious guidance and HELP! I have a 2006 automatic Nissan frontier V8 143,000 miles. When I start it up no problem, however , when I drive it for about 5-10 min. It make a clicking noise like a "spinning blackjack wheel" then the instrument board, on driver-side goes dark , like the battery is dead, and the vehicle slows to a dangerous crawl. I say dangerous , because it happens while I'm driving. Then It jerks forward and picks up speed again for about 3 to 5 mins, then does it again. My mechanic , who is really nice by the ... | |||||
| Nissan frontier parasidic drain? | 15Relevance | 5 years ago | Ozzy | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2012 Nissan frontier SV 4.0L V6. During the cold weather months the truck fails to turn on, it seems that at a certain temperature it will it try to crack over or if it's cold enough outside it will not crank over at all. During warm weather there is no issue. I have replaces the battery a couple of times and i believe I have a battery with the most cold cranking apps available to the truck. It is a normal Wal Mart battery. Not a red top optima battery. I suspect parasidic drain but i believe that if it was a parasidic drain then this would be h ... | |||||

| My 2014 Nissan frontier (4 cyl. AT) has about 78,000 miles on it. I bought it used with about 43,000 miles on it and I am the second owner. Have had no problems until recently. Occasionally now the transmission starts shifting both up and down with a pronounced jolt each shift. Turn the truck off for a few seconds and then start back up and problem solved with truck again shifting smoothly (for a few hundred more miles) and then this eventually happens again. AT fluid shows on the dipstick to be clean and at correct level. Truck has never been used hard and ... | |||||

| Hey Scotty! First I want to say I've been watching you for quite a while. My dad taught me how to work on cars when I was 13 and I've never stopped!! I recently bought a 2015 Nissan frontier and generally speaking I would like to know your thoughts on the longevity of the 4 liter engine and transmission and your thoughts about the suspension. Every bump you hit you go flying in the air LOL it reminds me of the go-kart I built for my son 6cyl / 4.0 automatic transmission Keep up the great work man you're a diamond in the rough | |||||

| It’s too new to tell, and why be a guinea pig for a new truck? If you intend to keep the truck for as long as possible with minimal issues, I would look at a 2019 model year or older frontier; the 2020 and newer went to newer powertrain — both engine and transmission as well as switched to direct injection-only — and not as true and tried as the older powertrains (engine and transmission) in the 2019 and older frontiers. I am also not a fan of any 9-speed ATs from a longevity point of view. The older 5-speed ATs (while you may think of them as “old”) wer ... | |||||

| Well, I would wait to see how they hold up since it's a redesign. The frontier is a great truck and the new one is really nice with its design, the Mercedes design 9 speed, and the strong VQ V6 engine. I think it could put a good fight with the Tacoma (maybe not in terms of resale value), but way better than the Ridgeline and American offerings from Stellantis, Ford, and GM. | |||||

| ... frontier. Not a fan of Toyota but know they are tried and true. Had excellent 12 year experience with a Nissan Hardbody years ago but bad luck with an Altima that we got rid of that only had 30k miles on it. What do you think of the New 2022 Froniter coming out. Value your input a great deal. Thank you, Jim | |||||
