| I bought 2012 Mini Cooper S Countryman all4 in April of this year with 75,000 miles. I am using Mobil1 0W-30 advanced fuel economy with Mobil high end filter. Would you recommend any other oil for this turbo 1.6L motor with automatic 6 speed transmission. This is my 1st non-American vehicle anything i should look for and what are good maintenance routines for this vehicle. I grew up with a Mopar mechanic who is my father so i do a lot of my own maintenance. Looking for good tools to have for this vehicle and my sons which is a 2012 Mini Cooper S Clubman 1.6 ... | |||||
| Stupid Mini/BMW engineers on the Mini Cooper SE | 42Relevance | 5 years ago | infinitifxfan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The worst part about this car is how the high voltage lines are attached. What kind of a moron would use zip tie to tie the high voltage lines to the undercarriage?? That seems very unsafe and stupid by BMW/Mini. In typical Mini fashion (at least the newer ones) I don't think this will hold up over time. | |||||

| If she absolutely wants a hybrid, go only with a new Toyota Prius (I don’t recommend used Prius hybrid with higher mileage). Otherwise, walk away from the Mini. The regular gas versions were not good (especially for long term), and going hybrid only adds to the potential headaches to come. For certain, she should not buy/own a Mini (or Mini Hybrid) out of warranty! If she must have a Mini Hybrid, only lease it and return before the bumper to bumper warranty expires. | |||||

| I personally like the design of the Mini Cooper, so if I really wanted one, I would get one, KNOWING, it’s going to cost me an arm and a leg to maintain and repair. If you are looking for reliable, pass. | |||||

| Hi Scotty, my name is Albert and I’m from Mexico City, I have a 2012 Mini Cooper R60 with a N18 engine, about a month ago I noticed smoke coming out of the tail pipe, thought it had a bluish color so I thought it was due to oil burning in the chamber so I checked the turbo but it is fine, I’ve done leak tests and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary, I was puzzled as I have never encountered something like this in a Mini, and I think is relevant to mention that te smoke comes and goes, it’s not a constant issue but yesterday I noticed something, if I leve ... | |||||
| Oil Change Frequently 2019 JCW Mini Convertible | 39Relevance | 5 years ago | Minimatt | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty, How often would you recommend the oil change intervals on my 2019 JCW Mini Convertible. I don’t put many Kilometres on in a year, currently only has 14,285km. It primarily is driven in the city to and from work but I do take it out on the highway for a to get a good run periodically . I don’t drive it hard but have seen your videos suggesting more frequent oil changes with a turbo charged engine. Given the low kilometres per year and the fact that I don’t drive it hard would yearly oil changes be considered safe, or should I be servicing it mor ... | |||||

| Answer to: 2023 Mini Cooper JCW | 38Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| YES! You are correct. The Cooper S has a terrible 7 speed DCT (as far as I know - it’s a Getrag 7DCT300, a mix between Ford’s Failed Dry PowerShift and Volvos notoriously expensive to maintain Wet PowerShift) while the JCW has a much better 8 speed (instead of the old BMW 1 series’ ZF, as far as I know [I could be wrong] these Cooper JCW models have an Aisin 8 speed and that’s still a decent gearbox) Well, I think getting a bigger engine than what the base 1.5L has is a good idea. The 2.0T isn’t the best engine out there, they last about 100,000 miles with proper maintenance before turning into massive money pits. Don’t keep it over 5-7 years or 100k miles, it might not have a BMW badge - but definitely costs like a BMW to keep running. (If she’s planing to keep the car for along time or drive a lot, she’s better off with a Corolla / Camry / CH-R (if she wants a “fresh” looking suv)) | |||||
| 2007 Mini Cooper S Turbo Running Rich | 36Relevance | 4 years ago | JN330 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi there. I just purchased a 2007 Mini Cooper S Turbo with 111,xxx miles as a daily driver. Over the past month, the CEL code P2188 came on (running rich). Also, the car idles slightly rough during the first start up, has a slight hesitation and when I release the gas pedal (car does a small jerking motion when I'm just letting the car roll naturally in drive gear), and occasionally a little rough idle at a red light. So I cleaned the MAF sensor, changed the spark plugs and as well as coils. I cleared the code after this, and after about a week the code ca ... | |||||
