| Is the Lexus LS430 expensive to maintain? | 27Relevance | 5 years ago | endrit15 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Big S, I have been looking at ls430's. Are they good cars? You have contradicted yourself saying that they were good cars once and bad cars another time. Are they expensive to maintain? Is it true it costs $1000 to replace the starter and $1000 to replace the timing belt? What should I look for if I get them used? Thanks for taking the time to respond! | |||||
| 2002 LS430 Coolant Leak | 27Relevance | 5 years ago | froggyav8r | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2002 Lexus ls430 that is leaking coolant (orange variety) from the bottom of the passenger side of the engine. I've looked around the water pump, radiator, overflow tank, radiator hoses, and can't find where the leak is coming from. It drips enough to leave a couple quarte size spots on my garage floor each day. Since I can't find where it's leaking from, could I add a bottle of "radiator stop leak" to fix it? If so, which "radiator stop leak" is the best? | |||||

| @ls430-4runner-driver Ok, listened to it.... note above comment and follow that...second part if ya decide to spend $ As for when warmed up, components have expanded to their (supposed) operating dimensions/parameters so clearances/passages have changed some. Not to mention that heat is likely having a more significant affect on the failing component. | |||||
| Lexus LS430 hesitation in reverse gear | 27Relevance | 5 years ago | Eagleputt | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty, I have a 2001 Lexus ls430 with 203,000 miles. The car runs like a top, the only concern I have is sometimes when I am in reverse and let’s say backing up my driveway, the car will shake/hesitate a little bit. It gets to its destination and does not happen every time I drive in reverse just some of the time. Any idea what the issue could be? Is it a major concern? I bought the car at 195K a few months back, it was a 2 owner car that was well taken care of. I had some maintenance items done right after buying the car such as replacing the timing belt, ... | |||||

| I've got a 2004 Lexus ls430 (I'm the original owner, 166K miles). About 6 months ago I hit a pothole while turning out of a parking lot (I didn't see the pothole because it was raining and the entire area was covered with water - I always try to avoid potholes). Maybe a couple of weeks after that my car started making a popping sound when I made sharp right hand turns (I was also making a right hand turn when I hit the pothole). The car wouldn't make the sound when I had someone from our repair shop listening for it (multiple times over the last 6 months). ... | |||||
| 2006 LS430 Light transmission knocking in bell housing | 27Relevance | 6 years ago | LS430 4Runner Driver | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I am the original owner of a 2006 ls430 currently at 42K miles. Recently, there is light knocking inside the transmission bell housing when in Drive (1st gear) or Reverse gears whenever the brake is applied or initially getting started on an incline. No knocking at all when Toyota WS ATF is below 130F temperature. No problems shifting and no knocking sounds after it gets moving beyond 1st gear. I think the source of the knocking is in the torque converter as we have a long very steep driveway which we use reverse gear to back up on to enter into our home gar ... | |||||

When the car is warmed up, there will be a light knocking from inside the transmission bell housing. However... When the car is started from cold, there will not be any knocking. This knocking is happing when in Reverse or Drive gear with brakes applied. | |||||

| LS 430 Suspensión creaks/squeaks | 15Relevance | 1 year ago | Manny2181 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty so I just bought a 2006 Lexus ls430 with 192,000 miles. Well maintained and garage kept by previous retired owner. Works great. Awesome car! However the suspension squeaks/creaks when turning left or right. My mechanic (independent, only works on Lexus/toyota) says the suspension is fine and the car is otherwise in great shape, but to me the creaky suspension is bothersome. Any thoughts or leads I can relay to my mechanic? Thanks!! | |||||

| What is the most mileage you should buy a car? | 15Relevance | 4 years ago | Its_Lez | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Mr Scotty, I’m looking a old used car to buy as my first car. I’m new to driving so I’m buying automatic transmission. I know high mileage will be there but what is the limit? I didn’t want to go over 100k but 15-20yr old cars will probably have more than 100k. I’m fine with that and even looking in cars that last long with good reliability and no high maintenance cost. What older car with good automatic transmission would you recommend? I’m stuck between toyota, honda, and lexus (es300 series or ls430). | |||||
