| I just browsed to this site for first time ever and saw this q, so had tojoin and reply. You should check out clublexus.com for great discussions on both. I have a 2005 ls430 and it is excellent but not like new. Very reliable and repairs are not bad now that i have finally started avoiding dealer, whose labor rates have gotten out of control and throws parts at it. Be aware that gas mileage is poor. A few years ago I had check engine light 3 times and I think the dealer "fix" hurt mileage... 20+ on highway, but 18-19 mpg overall in mixed driving. LS ... | |||||

| Just thinking to add... ls430 is not cheap to maintain either, unless you do it yourself. Brake pads are pricey and needed perhaps every 30k-40k, etc. Timing belt is $1000+, etc. Expect bills. Mirror switch gets rusted internally, could be $300... I have owned car for 13 years. First 6 was cpo with warranty. Total repairs paid after that mostly at dealer has been $4.5k in last 7 years. One stretch with 3 check engine lights in 4 months accounts for most of that, but I persevered and am glad. But timing belts, tires, brakes, trans fluid, coolant, ... | |||||

| I'm looking for a daily driver that I'll be using to commute about 120 miles round trip. Currently I have an 05 nissan altima that I've had for for a little over 10 yrs. Has a little over 150k miles. Has been a reliable daily driver but only in town. I don't trust to drive from clarksville to nashville 5 days a week. Found a used ls430 with 170k miles for 5500$. Would the ls430 be reliable transportation or should i keep looking. Never owned a lexus soi don't know if they are more trouble than theyre worth. | |||||

I love and so miss my late husband, who, in my opinion was the best mechanic, husband and dad ever. AND, since he passed away 7 years ago, I have yet to find someone as knowledgeable and interesting enough to watch and listen to until I found your videos, ha! So I have an '01 Lexus 430 that just recently threw a PO325 code. I love my 24 year old son, and he has my car right now at his workplace repair sho ... | |||||

| 2006 Lexus LS430 60,000 miles for $17,000 a good buy? | 27Relevance | 2 years ago | Johnegopher | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, I'm looking at a listing for a 2006 Lexus ls430 with under 60,000 miles online for sale by private owner in FL for around $17,000. Could this be a good buy, and if the timing belt hasn't been changed on it yet should that be done right away? I plan to do CarFax check and take to a mechanic to check it out, but is there other warning signs I should watch for? Always appreciate your sage advise. | |||||

| Hey everyone I hope you are doing well. My father was looking for a luxury sedan for the past month or so and we shortlisted to two options. Which would be more reliable, comfortable, cheaper to maintain out of these two: 1. Lincoln Town car 2006 in immaculate condition well maintained done about 150,000 miles. Going for 3700 $ final price. 2. Lexus ls430 2002 in Excellent condition also well maintained done about 200,000 miles. Going for 4000 $ final price. Both are personal used cars and not dealers | |||||

| Hello, I am from Fairfield, CT and own a 2004 Lexus ls430 with 190,000 miles (3rd owner). I just brought the vehicle to a Toyota service center to diagnose oil leaks and they said the following items were in need of repair: both lower/upper oil pans need to be resealed, rack and pinion leaking badly, rear differential leak. I am being quoted in excess of 6k to perform all the repairs as they state it is a big repair effort that needs to be done at once as they will need to drop the sub-frame. Can someone please advise if the diagnosis and cost is somewhat a ... | |||||

| Mr. Scotty: A couple years ago I bought 2005 Lexus ls430. It appeared to be in excellent condition with only 66,393 miles. I bought the car for $10K and had the main Lexus dealership in town do a thorough inspection (70K mile service). They found the following issues: - replace all drive belts including the timing belt - replace the valve cover seals - replace camshaft seals with required gaskets and t-belt and water pump - replace bushings on “ft lwr ctrl arm” I mainly use the car for road trips and short errands in town. Our other car is a 2010 ... | |||||

| I have a 2002 lexus ls430 with 185000 miles. When I first start the car and put the gear shift in reverse or forward it doesn't engage immediately. After it goes in gear forward or reverse, the car doesn't move. It may take a minute or two before it moves. Once it does start going, it drives fine until you turn it off again. Not every time, but sometimes it repeats the same process when I start it up to go again. Could this be a computer problem or transmission issue? | |||||

| Hello! I'm currently in the market for a used car (mostly against my will) and have been keeping my eye out for deals. I found a private seller with an '02 Lexus ls430 with 120k miles wanting to sell it for 4k. I know it can be a gas hog but are there any other reasons to not think this is a good deal? I would only be using it to commute to and from campus which is a 15-mile drive and a supermarket run that's like 10 miles. I'm fairly new to cars in general, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. | |||||

| Hi scotty, I have a 2003 lexus ls430 it runs smooth but when I go to put gas in it the rpm starts to fluctuate and the car shakes The car doesnt produce a check engine light and no codes I do suspect its something related to the purge valve or the charcoal canister but am not sure because the car doesnt throw codes . After I leave the gas station the car clears again and runs smooth again. | |||||
