| My car's AC doesn't perform well after sitting under the sun and during hot days | 15Relevance | 5 years ago | jaydac12 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| My car's AC doesn't perform well after sitting under the sun and during hot days. It needs to be driven in the highway or at least in faster speeds before it starts to get cool. However, it does perform seemingly well during evening or early in morning. Mechanic already installed new compressor(due to leaks), new expansion valve(due to blockage), and new evaporator(due to leaks and old age). Only thing that hasn't been replaced is the condenser. The blower fan also blows every 15-20 seconds or so and my mechanic leak tested the system and found nothing. My c ... | |||||

| The primary job of springs, is to hold up the weight the vehicle and its cargo. The primary job of struts and shocks is to hold the tire in contact with the road and soften the ride quality. Struts are a combination of the two, but the functions are still the same. The car sitting very low is likely the springs being shot, and the rough ride your struts and shocks. Not surprised given you're in India and from what I've seen the roads are pretty bad there. Scotty doesn't particularly like Monroe or Gabriel, he goes for KYB, but you may be limited to what is a ... | |||||

| Scotty has a video on getting a car going that has been sitting for years. One thing to look out for is siezed wheels. It could have failed emissions for pretty much any component of the EVAP system so don't replace catalytic converters until you know for sure that it is the issue. | |||||

| ... himself or gives it away...anything would make me happy if this car was driven again. Onto the details: My grandmother passed away in 2018. This was her vehicle, which she (clearly) used sparingly for the 22 years she and my grandfather owned it. This is a single owner vehicle (two, if you count me, her grandson, who the car was left to). I will start off with what is wrong with the car. I know Scotty hates mysteries. I will leave nothing to the imagination and own up to my one error that got me here. The vehicle overheated in 2017, with a pool of c ... | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I found a new 2024 Nissan Titan, but I have a concern. The truck was produced in 08/2023 and has been sitting at the dealership for 15 months with less than 10 miles on it. I’m wondering if this long storage time might have caused damage to the tires, seals, or fluids. Seal damage is my biggest concern since it has not been lubricated during this time. Please let me know your thoughts? Regards, Ahmad | |||||

| Storage cars like to be driven. cars were designed with regular driving in mind. sitting parked is the worst thing for a car. They need the heat and movement and lubrication to maintain good function. That being said, there are some things you can do to make storage easier on a car. The amount of prep needed will vary according to how long the vehicle will be parked. Preparation: Fuel & fluids Put some fresh oil in the engine before storing the vehicle. You don't want the dirty, contaminated stuff sitting in there a long time. Make sure t ... | |||||

| If it has been sitting for 6 years, there's a good chance you won't be able to get it running well enough to drive 20 miles without doing the gas drain and refill first. Gosh knows what that deteriorated gas did to the fuel injection system. The brake discs might be rusted enough that braking might be a problem, too. The tires are probably questionable. I'd tow it, as it would probably take a fair bit of work to make it safe to drive. I imagine that the car is not properly licensed and insured at this point, too. If you or some other member of the family i ... | |||||

| Hi! I just bought a 1992 Toyota Camry 2.2 manual sedan, it has 148000km (91k miles) on the odometer, and has been sitting for 6 years. It worked fine before it was parked, and today I am going to start it and drive it for the first time in 6 years. Is there anything that i should do before starting and driving it, so I don't damage the engine or anything else? Sorry if the english is bad, I am from Norway. {black}:laughingoutloud: | |||||

| A few months ago a wrote asking for suggestions on the potential of reviving a car sitting for the last 6 years, specifically a Mazda Tribute first generation. I got more details. And perhaps this will change the prognosis for the vehicle. A family meme we gave it to another a family in need. The Gifter gave of for free, with the stipulation that it is as is, and the Giftee takes care of all maintenance. After a year or two of driving it the Giftee let it sit. The reason?! Because it wouldn’t pass emissions. The Giftee wants to take it back, and try to ... | |||||

| I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla base model sedan, automatic transmission (270,000 miles) The car has been sitting for little more than a year now, and want to start it back up. When we started it up a year ago after sitting long also, the bottom of the car was spilling coolant underneath like a fountain. The water pump was fixed previously to the sitting abandoned. Can this be a broken hose underneath? We do have rodents in the area. Also, given the age of the car and milage of the transmission, should we change the transmission fluid. And lastly, what type of ... | |||||
