Yes, the title is correct.  I will explain below.  I do not want to junk this vehicle, or sell it for scrap.  I want this car restored to be road-worthy, at the very least, for whoever decides to take it on.  Obviously, my first choice is Scotty.  Whether he fixes it and keeps it for himself or gives it away...anything would make me happy if this car was driven again.  Onto the details:

My grandmother passed away in 2018.  This was her vehicle, which she (clearly) used sparingly for the 22 years she and my grandfather owned it.  This is a single owner vehicle (two, if you count me, her grandson, who the car was left to).  I will start off with what is wrong with the car.

I know Scotty hates mysteries.  I will leave nothing to the imagination and own up to my one error that got me here.  The vehicle overheated in 2017, with a pool of coolant in the driveway as I pulled in from a short drive (the car had already been given to me as she no longer drove at her advanced age).  I went ahead and replaced the upper rad hose, lower rad hose, thermostat, radiator, water pump, and harmonic balancer (unrelated, already had the part to replace the classic wobble-balancer that these cars often developed).  During the harmonic balancer replacement is where one bad decision led to the car sitting.  When trying to remove the bolt that holds the main drive belt tensioner in place, it was seized.  i thought it was beginning to turn, but it sheared right off.  Well, at least the tensioner was off at this point, lol.  Upon shearing off, my hand/tool went flying into the radiator creating a pin-sized hole.  i finished the rest of the work, went inside, and would spent the next 2 weeks trying to get the broken tensioner bolt out of the block.  After drilling, hitting, chiseling, heating, nuclear-bombing, and some more drilling, one day the bolt finally broke and came out.  In the process, i did a pretty harsh job in that general bolt-area.  I re-tapped the hole for a larger bolt, replaced with a new bolt, and it feels like a strong fix.  I don't trust it at all.  lol.  I would try a better fix, or at least examining my fix before thinking this will actually hold.  Now, the car has been run many times since this fix, and the bolt has had no issues, but the car has not been actually driven, only idled in driveway.

The car still overheats.  i tried to fix the pinhole leak in the new radiator with some radiator stop-leak since the thing was brand new, and i was becoming lazy and frustrated.  this seems to have blocked off the flow of coolant, OR the water pump has once again seized, as the car will overheat after about 15-25 minutes of idling and then spit coolant out of the overflow while only one end of the radiator ever gets hot.  based on the way it runs, i really do not believe this is a headgasket issue.  i have always SEEN the coolant come out, nor have i noticed it burning any.  both electric auxiliary fans work, and on a cool day it'll take a good while for the car to overheat at idle.

so what's good?

46k original miles.  it has the 3.5 litre high output V6.  it has, from what i can tell, zero rust when it comes to the frame/chassis.  The body is straight, plenty of scratches and dings but nothing major, most panels still have a tight fit, everything is original.  paint is faded but likely not un-recoverable.  this car was garaged from 1996-2016.

the interior is in excellent shape.  it has leather seats, featuring a front leather BENCH seat.  yes, this car seats 6, and has a column shifter with leather seats and the high output v6.  it was a bizarre combo, but my grandparents were insistent on a bench seat (lol) and this was what they had.

things that have been replaced over the years (not including cooling system fiasco):

valve cover gaskets

fuel pump (and possibly the tank?  i can't remember if she told me the tank needed to be lowered for replacement of fuel pump, or the whole tank)

harmonic balancer

spark plugs and wires

synthetic oil change once a year or every 3k whichever came first

i am forgetting things for sure.  i have receipts somewhere i will try and find.  the bottom line...this car has 45k original miles, a great interior, a straight exterior, and it runs (pretty well) as of two years ago, the last time i tried starting it up.  it will need to be towed wherever it goes, but hopefully it can drive away.  i will post some pictures later today.  the only thing changed was the OEM radio for an aftermarket unit just for some modern inputs...i believe i still have the OEM unit and will include anything I can find with the car.  I just want to see this car on the road again.  And, in a perfect world, I would see it in one of Scotty's videos, fixed up, and given to someone in need.

i never see these on the road anymore.  yea, partly because they weren't the greatest cars on the road.  But with the HO v6 (215hp) and cab-forward design, you have a reasonably powerful sedan with an ENORMOUS back seat and trunk.  the car is black on gray leather and rides on the 16in magnesium alloys.

what do i reasonably think this car needs to be drive-able?  cooling system overhaul, suspension overhaul (at least shocks/struts and all rubber bushings/arms/ends) and i'm sure brakes would be a good idea, although the pads and rotors themselves are likely fine, i would service the system just for sitting.

I included a STOCK photo of the car, not the actual car, but this is what it could be like with some love!  Actual pictures later today.  Any questions welcome.

Scotty, save this car!

Are you selling your car here on this forum? Where is it located?

not for sale, for offer for free to the right person who also can arrange a tow.  vehicle is located in long island, ny.  i have put out a notice to one other YT car channel guy, but i'm open to anyone with a channel, and if that doesn't work out, anyone who will actually repair/restore this vehicle and maybe send me an update.  just trying to keep it out of the scrap yard!  i was 10 years old when my grandparents picked this up in 1996 and i was there with them when they took delivery.  fond memories.

The Chrysler cab-forward sedans were actually based on the nearly forgotten AMC/Renault/Eagle Premier, even down to the Premier's hard points and suspension geometry being retained.

Whoa! I had no idea that the Charger concept is a hybrid of styling cues from the Concorde / Intrepid and 300 / Charger!

very interesting, thank you! we had two chrysler LHS in a row (93 and 96), and i always thought those cars were really sharp looking. unfortunately they had a host of issues with the transmission and handled a bit uneasy, but they were great highway cruisers. loved the front end headlights/grill styling of that generation of new yorker/lhs.

I’m usually not a big Chrysler fan, but this Concorde / Intrepid etc… is subtle car history.

The design itself heralded a generation of “cab-forward” design. They weren’t the first to do it, but it seemed a heavy influencer in the market.

On top of that, it was inspired by a Lamborghini prototype, when Chrysler owned Lambo.

another thing i did not know. i must admit i am not a huge chrysler fan myself, but this car taught me a lot. i think this styling couldn't overcome the problem with the brand name. under another name, i think this would have been more popular, but their overall reliability was unfavorable to american competitors from ford and well behind the japanese competition. it feels like one of the last of a rare breed, the truly large front wheel drive car.

here are pictures of the actual car as of november 2018.  i will have to check the actual mileage as i think the car has sat since this time, but this may have been just before it had the issue.  just add some dirt to the exterior and you pretty much have how it sits today.  i will take more current pictures tomorrow if i have time.
