| Volvo XC90 2005 D5 - Power Steering unable won't keep steering centered | 23Relevance | 4 years ago | kenducis666 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Ok - I am somewhere handy with cars - but there's for sure more to learn. I've been fighting Power steering issues with my Volvo xc90 (2005) for some time now. THE ISSUE: Steering wheel won't keep itself centered - pulls to either side - BUT not like wrong wheel alignment or trye pressure issue - but litery as force from power steering - and am saying that - because it acts exactly the same when car is turned on but standing still. It's not the steering rack - at least 99% sure it's not the rack - like it's not bleeding or losing liquid in any shape or f ... | |||||
| 2005 Volvo XC90 Recently Purchased Question of changing TRANSFER BOX & REAR DIFF FLUID | 23Relevance | 4 years ago | JohnnyT08540 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty, Just purchased it 2 weeks ago. Like you tell folks "FLUIDS ARE IMPORTANT". Just had the transmission fluid changed at a Reputable Transmission shop in Topeka, KS. His shop was going to change the other below-listed fluids, HOWEVER, no drain plug could be located. He was unable to do the fluid change. Are these SEALED UNITS??? How are these fluids changed?? | Hi, Scotty! I have a 2011 Volvo xc90 R-Design with 143000 miles and today when leaving my house the steering wheel was very hard to turn and the belt started car started squealing like crazy. I am thinking it could be the power steering pump or system or belt? The power steering fluid looks great bright yellow and I don’t know what to do. The dealership is very far away for towing so wanted to get it fixed if possible. do you have any ideas or thoughts?? thanks! preluding99 | |||||

| I would have an independent mechanic thoroughly check it out along with service history, especially the transmission. Volvo xc90's from 2003-2006 had transmission problems, but I've seen them continue for several years even into 2009's. | |||||

| Hey Scotty, I need the dreaded timing cover gasket reseal on my 2007 Volvo xc90 V8 Sport with the Yamaha V8 and Aisin 6 speed transmission.. Swede and Japanese marriage, love it! I called around some independent shops and some won't touch the V8 and the rest gave way over the price quote. (Some even tried to charge for the valve cover gaskets separately when you have to remove them to get to the timing cover anyways, crooks!) I even asked a dealer in Jersey and they were one of the better prices believe it or not. I got all my parts from FCP Euro and have ... | |||||

| That car was designed before the Geely takeover and was decently reliable compared to other Euro SUVs like the X5 and GL-Class, but still would cost a lot in repairs and maintenace after 100-150k miles. Take care of it and it might last, but don't forget its still a European SUV and odds are all the electronic gimmicks are on their way out by now. When it comes to common problems, you are lucky in two regards: The AISIN transmission was relatively reliable in those later years of the generation, and the 3.2 wasn't turbocharged so you don't have to deal with those two things that would bankrupt you instantly. Good luck! | |||||

| Maintain it and for 130 150k miles they can be ok the xc70s are the best i see them with like 250k miles still going strong. The biggest issue is that the xc60 and xc90 eat through tires. | |||||

| @jimz Yeah I thought they were talking about a 2005 xc90 or something. A Ford fiesta could also be considered safe. If she likes it they can be good cars but a new one seems pointless so lease would be OK. | |||||
